Leonard Stars for partypoker With Sunday Party Scoop

It’s always great to see an online poker site ambassador win a tournament on their home patch. Patrick Leonard did so recently in spectacular fashion. Leonard took down two events on partypoker over the past weekend, scooping the Super $320 and the Sunday Party.

The first Super $320 victory, while impressive, saw Leonard navigate past a field of 101 opponents. His most significant achievement would come in the $109 Sunday Party. Leonard navigated past 1,354 players over the two-day event to secure a huge win.

He would face off against fellow partypoker pro Matt “MatthewStaples” Staples late in the event but still made day 2 fourth in chips from 15 left. Facing a final table with no notable or well-known online grinders, Leonard beat off the competition to secure an $18,747 top prize and heat up in the peak time of the online grinders calendar.

How to Crush a PKO MTT

Conquering a partypoker MILLIONS KO will require you to apply traditional poker tournament strategy with a concept built on the maths behind winning bounties. To boost your overall chances in the MILLIONS KO series, we’ve put together some tips below:

  • Change Your Range: Since bounties are a key aspect of the tournament, your stack size and bounty will combine to adjust your range throughout. Deep-stacked and presented the opportunity to stack a bounty? Widen your calling/jamming range and run your equity. Short-stacked and a big bounty on your head? Be cautious about jamming your low-to-medium pocket pairs, as you have no fold equity anymore!
  • Chase Bounties: Some players will lock up big stacks or not go for bounties, but this is fundamentally wrong. You need to work out the chip value of the bounty you are going after and work that out into big blinds. By doing so, you can mitigate risk while winning the maximum rewards.
  • Protect Your Stack: In certain spots, putting in a chunk of your stack to win a bounty might be a negative EV thing to do over the span of the tournament. Some poker players are great at leveraging a big stack, especially in ICM-heavy spots. If that’s you, having a big stack is far more valuable than a bounty.
  • Keep an Eye on Payouts: As the tournament reaches the penultimate stages, consider payouts when going for bounties is crucial. You might be amid a flat payout structure with no jumps and the chance to get a big bounty. Or the inverse, where staying alive gets you more than the bounty is worth. Keep the lobby tab open!
