Update 10th March – Irish Open 2020 & THMC Dublin Postponed

UPDATE MARCH 1OTH – IRISH OPEN 2020 POSTPONED

Official PR Irish Open: UPDATED COVID-19 PRESS RELEASE – 10TH March 2020

We, at the Irish Poker Open, have been closely monitoring the developing situation in relation to the Covid-19 virus worldwide. Up to now, we have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that all guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation and the Irish Health Service Executive, for the provision of large events, were being implemented for Irish Open 2020.

The situation in relation to Covid-19 is evolving on a daily basis. We have to ensure that the safety and well being of our players and staff is our utmost priority and it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to postpone the event.

We are now in discussions with the Citywest Hotel to secure an alternative date for the Irish Open Festival later in the year. All current Irish Open 2020 qualifiers will have their current satellite seat redirected to the new date later this year or to Irish Open 2021. Further information on this will be made available as soon as possible.

We hope that all players and staff remain safe in these trying times.

Kind regards,

The Irish Open Team

The second Hendon Mob Championship of 2020 will take place in Dublin on 7th April 2020 as The Hendon Mob teams up with the Irish Poker Open for a second consecutive year. The €250 THMC event (Event #7) will kick off at 4pm on the second day of the festival, which this year will run from 6th to 13th April at Citywest Hotel. Last time round Joseph Field topped a field of 238 runners to take down first prize and the THMC trophy.

Irish Open 2020 is set to be a special one as Europe’s oldest poker festival celebrates its 40th anniversary. Once again, the Irish Open Main Event will feature a €1m guarantee for a €1,150 buy in, and will this year run from 8th to 13th April. Last year Weijie Zheng ran out victorious for €300,000 from a record-breaking field of 1,807 and a massive prizepool. This year’s festival features 36 different events at buy-in levels that make both the week’s non-stop action at the tables and legendary off-the-felt craic affordable.

Satellites for the Irish Open Main Event will be running on the headline sponsors site partypoker, and event partners sites Paddy Power Poker and Betfair Poker. Satellites also now running every Wednesday on Winamax Poker with a €10 rebuy feeder satellite at 19:15 CET into the €125 main satellite at 21:15 which has a €1,700 package guaranteed.

The promo code for reduced poker rates is IOP2020 which must be used when booking rooms at the hotel at www.citywesthotel.com.

Irish Open 2020 will feature a total of 35 events, and in addition to the Main Event and The Hendon Mob Championship will include the €5k high roller, the €550 JP Poker Masters, the €250 Mini Main and the €250 Liam Flood Memorial 6-Max.
