Board Cards

A   B

With a pair among the board cards the nut hand will always be four of a kind (unless a straight flush is possible). Here Hand A does not have quad kings. However, he 'knows' he must be holding the nut hand with Aces full of Kings because he has one of the Kings in his hole cards. His nut winning hand is therefore A-A-A-K-K. The best Hand B can do is Kings full of Aces: K-K-K-A-A.

In this example Hand A has trip Tens using two Tens from his hole cards to make 10-10-10-A-9. However, Hand B has that beat. He can use the Eight and Seven in his hand to complete the nut straight: 10-9-8-7-6. In Omaha, it is important to remember that no hand can make a full house (or quads) unless there is a pair or trips among the board cards.
