i cant afford professional childcare and have now lost both family members that were going to do it cheaply.
i will have to stay home myself now but come tuesday i wont be able to go to work.
is there any way of avoiding a bad reference out of this? _________________ THMF 8 game champion 2010

Go to the doctors and get on meds for depression, say you get panic attacks going into the office because you think that everyone talks behind your back.
Play on it for a few months on full pay, sell the pills to the local hoodies.
Your work will most likely pay you of and give you reference.

without becoming tony montana you could just go to your employer and explain the situation. leave is usually taken in lieu and you might be able to sort something out further down towards you leaving.
the bottom line is you are not going in. so the best result for everyone should resonate with the company. _________________ The next best thing to gambling and winning is gambling and losing.

All sound advice
You may want to look at this as well: http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1365
Not done it myself but can't you claim back a certain % of child care fees??
As for the reference, most places these days will only give the standard info - Name / Rank / Time spent etc - What's your relationship like with the boss? If shite, make sure you say you are sick to get the pay until you sort something out. _________________ If i want a monkey i get a monkey! |

+1
also agree with the option of looking into Child Care vouchers, there are maybe options which your HR at work could help with.
I personally think an honest approach here is the best way, any future employer would not look unfavourably at you in this situation. I also think your current employer (as long as they are not complete dicks), would appreciate your honesty and may even try and help you out. |
