Got to the Mint at 3.15pm and regged by 3.30 so i could get the free chinese buffet ticket happy days. Was shocked to see that me and my friend were the 1st 2 registered. and was told if we dont get a table you can have a refund but the guy who was in charge (didnt get his name but he was a tall chinese guy) assured us we would get the game going. Daiva (baltic blonde) arrived with Rich (ripple) and i was glad to see she didnt have heels on so didnt make me look too short, then Joe arrived and Ross was late. we got the game going with 10 runers so there was a nice £1000 overlay by the end of late reg there was 15 runners which still made for a healthy £500 overlay. to be honest if i had known there was only gonna be 15 runners i would not have driven all the way from Cambridge. I was seated next to Daiva on table 1 and we spent the next 5 hours chatting. The game was very very friendly and the card room staff were all really nice the dealers in the £100 tourney were exceptional. 1 player a reg called Nick was a total cock though he managed to try and give Daiva a proper rub down after she won a nice pot with 10s full of aces to which she simply replied "no comment" which i thought was hillarious, the chinese buffet came at just the right time as i was starving and myself Ripple and Daiva all made the 9handed f/table, i was out in 6th when i ran 8 BBs into Ripples AA and daiva was out next hand i think when Ripple also took her out and then came a 4way chop. I really enjoyed the tourney and the chat was good.

Then i entered the £40 + £20 r/b or A/O which was less than a good tourney. i have a few gripes about this tourney the main being one of the dealers a big Black fella (i only describe him as this as i didnt catch his name) who was telling players "hurry up and make your decision" also i heard him say when he was dealing the f/table when another dealer was waiting to swap with him "just let me do one more hand i really wanna send somebody bust" now if this was a joke with a regulars only final table then i could understand but my friend was at the f/t and he had never been to the mint before and i thought this guy just gave a bad impression of what a dealer should be like. Also when we was down to 17 players and a player was busted from the other table a player VOLUNTEERED to move to the other table and the dealer saw fit to just say ok you can go over there to seat 3 now this guy was in mid poss and was not the next BB or anything. I bubbled the f/t and the final 9 drew for seat and 5 sat down and 4 decided they were going for a smoke 1/2 way through a level to which the dealer said ok fine majority rules. which i think 4/9 is not the majority. also ive never heard of majority rules in poker i thought it was if 1 said no then that stood.

id like to point out that the original card room boss who was there at 3.15 was not the guy running the 2nd tourney.

the one thing i will take away from this casino is the memory of a man called Mr Singh a crazy player who cant fold ATC and cant lay down ANY sort of draw and who was just funny and cheery with every pot taken or pot lost, he was also chip leader of the 5 handed final table when i left.

every card room needs a Mr Singh.

Will i go back to the mint?
Only for a decent tourney which i know is gonna get 40 runners or a good ole THMF meet up.

Nice report Jon - shame it didn't work out better with the second tournament (dealer needed a rub-down IMHO)... 5 hours chatting with Daiva sounds like it could be worse - I was sat at her table in Derby, but didn't have the gumption to introduce myself, though she was incredibly polite, even when I outdrew her with a desperation shove!

I'm still hoping we can get a Hendon Mob meet-up going at D2D sometime soon (mostly for the convenience, but it is also a fantastic card room).

Bit late mate, those kids will be getting no crimbo thanks to you, never get the dole sorted in time.

I'll have to set up a whip to see if we can get some food in for them etc.

If they'd wanted to feed their kids - they shouldn't have messed with the ginger!

Why is that grassing? It's a poker room not a school playground & they're paid to do a job and there is no reason for Jon to feel guilty about saying how he felt.

They did a shite job with new customers and they need to shape up or f**k off basically.

Looking at that photo of the great Paul Scholes, it appears that he has kicked the fingers of the other player, now that IS accurate footwork!

Seriously, have passed on Jon's comments to Mint, they will respond in good time, I thought his post was constructive, not destructive and I'm sure thats the way the Mint guys will see it.

All feedback is good feedback.

Glad you enjoyed talking to Daiva for 5 hours!

+1 though I suspect there may be some irony going on.
