Playing in an $8k KO on FTP. Was into the money, so I knew I could start playing a bit more flashy now.

Hsukur min-raises from the button, hadn't seen him do that, so I was wondering if he we just trying to blind steal. His big hands he always bet out with 3BB (or sometimes 4BB).

My thinking was, it was so cheap to see a flop, it's worth it. Even if I air ball it, I can just check-fold and only be down a small amount of chips, if I hit a monster, I could win a decent amount.

Flop comes 299, I hit 2 pair. He could have a 9 here, but I decide to make a pretty large pot, trying to represent the set, but mainly to take the pot down now.

Villain shoves it, his stack was twice my size, and he'd been bullying the table a fair bit, if he had the set or pocket pairs, I would have imagined him to either flat call, or just raise small. However, his weak bet preflop and the way he jammed on the flop, made me think he had maybe Ax or maybe a couple of broadway cards.

So a moment of madness hit me, and I press call and hit the Fullhouse on the turn.

Is any of my play questionable? Would people have done the same here, or is it an easier fold than a call?

(Sadly I donked out in 7xth place for $17 with $14 in knockouts, not too bad)

you have the right read on the bloke so it was the correct play at the time. its easy to go the other way though.
i think i prefer a fold pre.

Great analysis of the guys play on your prat considering you have been playing less than 3 months.

possibly a good future in poker for you.(just master holdem before you try omaha)

IMO if you wanted to defend your blind pre I would 3b with K2 more often than flatting. K2 has little to no showdown value, so most of the money that comes from the hand is bluffing. If you 3b pre he could easily fold AJo, and even if he doesnt when he misses the flop you'll have decent FE to take it down there and then. I don't think we can all applaud the play just because you came out on top over AJ - 64% you'll be crushed by it.

Just IMHO, I don't understand what you mean by "I'll call on the chance that I'll flop big, if I don't I'll check/fold." How wide is your range here? If you're going to do with K2, would you do it with J2? or 102? Both cards on this flop would have taken down the AJo so I see no reason why you'd say no. K2 has just as much reverse implied odds than J2 and T2. actually more than T2. DUCY?

My $0.02
