normally like lots of the articles on here but this logic is just plainly flawed. every single one of us knows a sat winner who has binked big at some stage. he is generalising all players who play sats into the 250-1 on investment bracket. he doesnt go into the fact that sats can sometimes have huge overlays like the recent ecoop series where ipoker were literally throwing seats away. he also doesnt go into the fact that if you play to correct satelitte strategy you edge is way way higher than the 1 in 25 seats awarded..... when i played sats almost full time i was down to winning a seat 1 in 4.9 times i played and yes it was a large sample size and not just sats to online tourneys- talking aussie millions wsops epts etc.
mbn to be able to generalise and write any old tripe, this for me is one of the worst articles ive read on here and although he is a far better player than me he certainly hasnt put much effort into this article. |

Not convinced by the authors arguments but there is an elelment of truth in it.
At the recent UKIPT in Brighton there were a fair number of qualifiers on day1a who didn't even turn up (two on my table). Rumour has it that PS actually paid them the buy-in due to their no-show which is bonkers.
On the same day there were a large number of qualifiers and the standard was distinctly average in comparison to day 1b. A lot of the online players had clearly not been in a dealer dealt tournament before and had to be prompted to post blinds, act etc. Other comentators also mentioned that the play on day 1b was distinctly firmer.
But results count and 6 of the final table of 8 were qualifiers including 1st, 2nd & 3rd. |

I understand what he's getting at but with the big sites you can unregister and take the tournament dollars instead.Obviously if you are -$ev against the field you shouldn't be in the game eg I wouldn't bother taking up a seat at the WSOPE main event (although it would be fun to try to tilt some of the big names). |
