Article is worth a read. I saw Piers Morgan in Vegas the other day and some of the show painted a bleak picture of Vegas and I took this with a pinch of salt, but the article backs up how bad it is at the moment.
Only hope the offers are still as good when I go there. |

I think if you stay at the cheapest rooms to be found online you will find the staff probably have a "death row" attitude and you will find out that the owners have stopped pumping money into the business.
However, it is incredibly difficult to be chosen for positions at the City Center, Hard Rock, Palms,Wynn+Bellagio so you should have no problems there. I forgot to mention that the Hard Rock has just expanded so it should be easier to find a room deal there.
Some small places defy this trend. Ellis Island (a small casino behind Ballys) is always popular with off duty strip casino workers. The M casino is another favourite of the locals.
Any business in Nevada can lay off staff instantly without giving a reason . House prices have halved. So the workers are worried and not making any new commitments and most of the casinos are in bankruptcy.
I really see some casino closures in the coming months. |

Steve, are they clamping down on the free drinks as a result of things?
Bet there are some great deals to be had though. |

There are less cocktail waitresses. After midnight some casinos only have one or two waitresses so they are not going to be bothered with penny slot players (locals) if they
have a shot at a $5 chip from a blackjack/craps player.
The Bellagio charges ($4) for a bottle of Fiji water. There own brand of purified water is
still free. I am sure it is the same if you want a name brand vodka.
Instead of charging $20 for a room the trend is to charge $120 but then offer most of it
back in gambling and dining credits. Both MGM and Station casinos are taking this route.
Stations are even offering the airport shuttle again (it had been dropped in recent years)
after surveying customers.
Las Vegas experienced its first population drop in two decades with 28000 more leaving
than arriving. |
