Vegas FAQ

Many times here on the forum we have threads requesting the cheapest route to Vegas or something very similar.
In short there is rarely ever one way that is the cheapest every time.
Below are some links and guides to get you started, if you find a site you think is useful, please post it at the end of the thread and we will add it on.
All 3 of these sites needs to be checked. Expedia and Travelocity recieve discounted fares from different airlines at different times.
Once you have prices from those 3, check the airlines respective homepages, they can often be cheaper than the 3rd party sites and surely a 2 minute search is worth the ££££ we could save.
If you want to fly direct from London, you have no choice other than Virgin, I have never seen a Virgin flight cheaper on a 3rd party website, so I would not bother searching.
Some people are opposed to a connection, this is because with security etc etc what can be an 11 hour flight turns into a 16+hr journey, potentially a lot more.
When I am not willing to stump up for a direct flight, I always fly direct to LA, the most served airport on the west coast from London. LA gives you the best of both worlds, upon arrival you can book an internal with an EasyJet type company www.southwest.com . Personally I would leave at least 3 hours between scheduled arrival and scheduled departure, a little less if you are business or first class.

I've said this before but not going with Virgin is a false economy. The Virgin service departs at 10.45 am and with a bit of luck you can be checked into your hotel by 2pm local time. You're also in a reasonable state to get out into the sunshine, reset your body clock, and get a full day in Vegas.
If you go via any other airline you have to change flights, go through immigration, get your luggage, check in again for the next flight etc. You end up finally checking in around 7pm local time and the bed will look too inviting for "just a quick nap". Then you wake up at 4am and there's very little to do.

2. Hotel
Perhaps nothing follows the laws of supply and demand more closely than Vegas hotel rooms.
What is $49 tonight could be $490 tomorrow and that’s not an exageration !!
Most hotels try to offer the best rate , some have best rate guarantees. A quick way to check hotel room prices is to download www.travelaxe.com and run a search, it runs the search across a mass of 3rd party sites and does it much quicker than you or I could Wink
Again like with the flight, once you have searched travelaxe, go check the hotels own website, or check out http://www.fatwallet.com/t/63/704925/ they list current promos hotels are running, sometimes you can bag a real good deal, but you will have to wade through many offers until you find one that suites you.
Burger King or McDonalds ??
Pepsi or Coke ?
Each to his own, the same goes for Vegas hotels/rooms/casinos.
Personally my favourites:
High end hotel rooms ($150+/night) is a dead heat between the Wynn or The Signature at MGM.
Mid tier ($100-150) Mirage or TI
Low end (<$100) Stratosphere.
The Orleans probably has an average rate of $65/night and is off strip, but the room is very nice, spacious and well appointed. A mere 5 minutes drive to the strip, for a room that would be $100+ if it were on the strip.
www.Travelocity.COM
Have a coupn code of "SAVE50" You have to stay 3 nights at selected hotels, pay with a mastercard and recieve $50 off your total price.
e.g
Flamingo for $70/night with a free uprgade to a GO room (usually $50/night ontop of regualr rate)
Fill it in before going to the US and you should get an instant resposnse. For the time being the green forms willl still be needed for imigration, but they are being phased out.

dont wanna ask a silly question but are room prices quoted as per room or per person? ie. say a quote is $1500, I assume thats for the room as a total and not $1500 per person?

TY
When booking with US websites or hotels, I have never not known the quote to be for the room.
Booking via UK sites or travel agents, they often charge per person.
Most Vegas room prices are quoted for 2 adults in the room, however in a room with 2 queen beds, you can easily sleep 4.
If you tell the hotel you ahve more than 2 in your room, they will charge more. It is upto you how honest you wish to be
For some reason I can get flights and hotel packages cheaper on www.bestattravel.co.uk than I can by going directly to the airline/hotel.
Vegas is getting better every month!
Had a quick look as I had never heard of that site.
One thing I noticed was booking for one person was not 1/2 price of booking for 2. I know this is probably standard for travel agents, but the differance was 30% on the one flight/date combo I checked.

Looking at some WSOP dates, there seem to be quite a few good deals.
e.g
Flamingo for $70/night with a free uprgade to a GO room (usually $50/night ontop of regualr rate)
$210 for 3 nights, less the discount $160, a truly excellent deal.
Imperial Palace, $150 for 3 nights, less discount=$100 for 3 nights.
If anybody finds similar great offers using this code, please post, or PM me and I will add them to this post so that the deals can easily be seen at a glance. _________________ The Hendom Mob Vegas FAQ

I stayed at PH last summer, for $69/night on a promo.
The casino was fully PH but some rooms, including mine, were still Aladdin themed, albeit with HollyWood memorabilia inside.
For $69 I thought it was a steal, anything higher, I think there are better options. I would not pay more than $100/midweek night as I would prefer Wynn for $119 on the poker rate, or Bills for $70 on a non poker rate.
The location is excellent, the poker room is hit and miss, but you are within walking distance of the bigger rooms, or in the heat of summer a short cab ride.
In short, for me, the main turn off for PH are the room rates. _________________ The Hendom Mob Vegas FAQ
