I see that the winner of this year's Ladies Event will win NOT JUST a bracelet and some money, but - far more importantly -
"The Ladies Champion also will receive a VIP weekend at a Harrah’s-operated casino to attend “The New You” exclusive makeover and lifestyle event, to teach participants about health, wellness and beauty from leading professionals in the field."
What a thoughtful extra gift for the little ladies! Who ever said that female-only tournaments weren't serious? I only wish I'd known. Thinking there was just a title and a few hundred thousand dollars at stake, I didn't make the effort to fly out in time; nobody mentioned we could also win a lesson in putting on lipstick... |

No doubt the table talk about soft furnishings and cross stitch would be worth the buyin alone
Joking aside, how does the standard compare to other WSOP events with similar buyins? |

New word for Balderdash & piffle
"Pamper-aments"
I can see it now, buy in with a face off crime watch, cash out with a bosom off bay watch. |

I was unaware of the extra prize, I would have worked much harder to stay focused had I known.
Apparently, the WSOP is technically a LIPS tournament. Or at least it was in the past. This is also the last year they will be awarding a bracelet for the ladies event since they don't have any all asian, all black or all jew events. |

The two worked together in the past, but from what I understand, LIPS had too many hands in the cookie jar. Women kicked up over the obscene rake/fees LIPS was charging for WSOP Ladies event qualifiers and the two parted ways. That's the rumour anyway.
As for the rest...
"The Ladies Champion also will receive a VIP weekend at a Harrah’s-operated casino to attend “The New You” exclusive makeover and lifestyle event, to teach participants about health, wellness and beauty from leading professionals in the field."
That annoys me to no end!!! I have a hard enough time trying to get women to show up to casinos and defending women only events, but when they add rubbish like this..........ugh!!!! One step forward, two steps back and I have to face more trouble over some moron in Vegas with a 'bright idea'. |

What's this? Harrah's for once generously make an addition to the prize pool giving special treatement to the ladies and all they can do is complain?
Imagine if it was a men's only event (complaints from the women to start with just for that) and they added season tickets to the football or a year's supply of (Milwaukee, obviously) beer and a Laz-Y Boy. Would you find us complaining about being stereotyped as lager swilling sports obsessed couch potatoes? Like hell you would, we would be very happy to have an extra bit of value added.
There really is no pleasing women is there?

| The funny thing is the number of male poker players in need of a makeover far exceeds the number of women who even play poker, let alone enter the Ladies Event. |

| Very true. Especially the men that are in dire need of a lesson in washing their favorite shirts. |

Would you complain if they offered you a weekend conference with Ms. Manners? Or even a make-over?
I hardly think women would complain either if they received sporting tickets, beverages and some furniture. |

| Although Rev's post was very well written I think the men and sports analogy doesn't work. It's the same as when white people say they don't mind if a black guy calls them a honky or a cracker. The fact is women have suffered a lot of discrimination due to stereotypes, as have non-white people. |
