No disrespect to Tommys mob but Martinez deserves a bigger club than WBA..to leave Wigan and go to WBA would be a sideways career move IMHO.
Brucie is probably wrong for the job too but when you look at the clubs hes had before and compare them to a West Brom....16s is a big price lol

Does history count for nothing anymore?
How can West Bromwich Albion, a founder member of the Football League, and 17th in the English Football records of most successful clubs, be classed as being on a par with Wigan? WBA are not in debt and their most recent managers have potentially gone on to win the Champions League and the European Championships Wink

Shiver, I'll wager you don't remember the days shown in the following clip?
At the time, Wigan were attempting to become a Football League club.

Ron Atkinson at the end: "A toss up between one of the coloured front people"!

WBA manager should only leave for England or a big club like Huddersfield or Preston.

Lol, the writing was on the wall then for Ron!

He actually said that the West Brom team of the late 70's was the best team he ever managed, despite never clinching any silverware. The Cantello goal won Goal of the Season on Star Soccer.. 'Driiiivvvvvessssss one!!!!" Hugh Johns(1978) Very Happy

Sean, i wish history did count for something these days.
I do remember the days of Johnny Wile head all bandaged up in the semis, and your right WBA was a big club back then but like most teams they just cant compete financially now and have fallen back into the pack, that pack for me includes Wigan
Im a spurs fan and i feel we are hanging on by our finger tips also.
We have bucketloads of history
Money will always buy success im afraid, it wasnt too long ago i was at Wembley with my brother watching Chelsea win the throbbing member cup

The 1986 Full Members Cup final was a football match which took place at Wembley Stadium on 23 March 1986. It was the final of the inaugural Full Members Cup, the competition created in the wake of the 1985 ban on English clubs from European competitions following the Heysel disaster. Contested between First Division sides Chelsea and Manchester City, the game produced nine goals, with Chelsea prevailing 5–4. Chelsea had led 5–1 courtesy of David Speedie’s hat-trick and a brace by Colin Lee, but Man City scored three times in the last five minutes to give the Blues a scare.[1]

This was a period where Spurs competed at the highest level domestically and WBA did too.

Then came the cash cows of Harding Abramovich and Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon Al Mubarak.
Blackburn are a classic example of money buying the title back in the Jack Walker days
Id wager if Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon Al Mubarak took over 5 years ago at WBA youd be a top 4 side now.
