seems to have gone ok with pokertracker. I had some issues setting up the database it depends on (postgres) but that seems to have been more to do with the screwed up setting I ended up with after the HEM2 trial download. All seems to be working now, I am using the Omaha trial because that is where I most want to put in the time to analyse all the many things I am doing wrong.
It might be just the contrast to how frustrating I found the HEM2 setup and what seemed like unclear documentation/troubleshooting in HEM2 but I must say I am impressed with PT so far.
I haven't used these things for many years since I used to have some basic HUD back in the old Paradise/Party days years ago. I stopped using it then when the eval ran out but I think I might take this more seriously this time around now I see what I can do with it beyond the simple HUD.
FWIW I have no interest/affiiliation of any kind with either company.. _________________ "Brandon Uhl @BrandonUhl

let us know how the hand history/analysis works for you KB. I'm very interested in this and I find reading my 'local hand history' from the sites is like trying to take in what a person is saying who never pauses for a breath and uses no punctuation. _________________ "I find it's best to start the day with no composure and then you've got nothing to lose." Appreciated. |
now that you understand what they mean no laughing at my stats mind
It would not be polite. |
Its ok there was no explanation without getting it, so I am still none the wiser. |
It will depend how Paul has set it up but first line at least looks standard setup, from left to right: VPIP %, PFR %, Aggro factor.
FWIW I downloaded the demo version of HEM prompted by this post and found it very difficult to get setup. I am now trying same with PokerTracker and will see if it is any better. |
Yes sorry VPIP=% of hands played, pre flop aggression, aggro factor correct. The last line on my hud personally is BB's,Tourney M and profit. There is lots of options to choose from like % of 3 bets etc and u can set it up yourself to own preference.Personally i think HM way more superior just takes awhile get used to like anything just make sure to watch all instructional videos it's well set up just follow the prompts. What difficulty did u have just press download free trial and follow instructions:) |

You could well be right re HM functional superiority once working, I do not have enough info to be able to tell.
The difficulty I had was that I downloaded free HM trial, it appeared to be installed but I got the error message "waiting for hands...." in the HUD that never resolved itself. When I went to the HM website and searched for that error message all I saw was a very clunky set of instructions on how to fix which went right back to reinstalling many things from scratch, using command line prompts to diagnose postgres and lots of other instructions that looked like it would too take much time to do. I also saw many irate comments from others that were having similar messages and not being able to fix it simply. Those two things together are what caused me to bale out.
I did watch a couple of the instructional videos and I can see that they would be useful for understanding more about how to use the functionality once I had the thing set up but they are no substitute for having a simple and robust install and setup mechanism. If I download a trial version of software I expect it to work simply and quickly and if it doesn't that's the trial over for me. _________________ "Brandon Uhl @BrandonUhl

I trialled Poker Pro Labs. Must admit I liked it but haven't subscribed. Don't really like all the screen clutter. _________________ Master of Puppets I'm Pulling Your Strings!
