Ok here goes Trip report for the above tourney.

Saturday 6am and ive been woken by my youngest the Missus is still in benidorm and i got to bed at 1.30am after having 7 mates round last night for a £50 min sit down cash game (i was £25 up). The signifcance to this being in my report is to give you and idea of how i feel Saturday morning after i awake to have to put in the recycling bin OVER 100 beer/cider cans and bottles. I take the boy wonder to footbal and his team get another pasting 6-1 his grandma picks him and his little brother up from footy as im off to Luton this afternoon and my missus dont land at stanstead until 1.30am. i go get home grab a bath have 1/2hour kip and i take the drive to Luton i get there about 4pm as i fancy a little cash action b4 the tourney but alas there is only about 15 people in the casino all playing roulette and the fruity's (not that these fruity's are anything like 'fruit machines') so i perch on a comfy seat and watch footy.

6.30pm arrives and James Simon the card room manager is setting up for the tourney and people start arriving im told that 10 of 45 went through from day 1a with the chip leader having 198k and the 4/10 have under 50k with a starting stack of 22k i dont think that 50k is that good.
6.45 and i see a familiar friendly face walking towards me grinning like a cheshire cat its Lee AKA DaLion, and his smirk is funny as i find out pretty soon its because he had gone to the old gala casino which is now the town hall PMSL.
7pm im sat at table 3 seat 7 and Lee is at table 3 seat 1. i have a pretty good start when i get 1010 in the first hand and get paid about a thousand on a 10 high flop and then hand 2 i get the same 1010 so i make a nice raise assuming the flop has to fall the same as before but alas it comes AK* and i have to fold. A pretty aggro guy in seat 8 and another in seat 9 mean i have to really bide my time and see a few flops in levels 4,5 and 6 with mid range suited connectors and hope to hit the flop and catch them out as they are betting in no pattern and showing air alot. my defing hand comes when i have 7h8h with 2 limpers i also take the limp option and true to form seat 8 bets 4x and seat 9 flats then the suprise as i expect the 2 limpers to fold but one calls and so do i the flop come 10c9c and inside im praying for not the 6 or J but just no club and the 3rd card is a red 2 the action goes odd and EP checks as do i and seat 8 seat 9 makes a very weak bet and EP and myself call seat 8 mucks declaring he has to fold as he knows what all 3 of us have (he was a cock tbh) in my head my screaming RED 6 RED6 RED 6 BOOOOOOm insta service RED6 mr EP shoves for i cant remember how much but i have him covered with my 14k and i dont want seat 9 drawing for his flush so i ship it all in and fooook me seat 9 tanks and tanks and tanks and then declares CALL EP has the flush draw and nothing else i have the NUTZ and seat 9 tables K*10* so if i can avoid a club on the river im quids in RED ACE and im happy as a pig in shit. with a hand that plays nearly identicle to this i take 30k from seat 8 before he is moved. a few more nice hands and a few nice plays (if i do say so myself) and im upto 80k sadly this is as far as i got up and i end the day on 53,300 so i decide that my earlier thinking that 50k ish for day 2 is not too bad. (i could tell you all now how Lee went for 13k to nearly 100k in 1 level but i will let him have the river 4 glory story)
Its now 2.45am and we are bagging up the chips with 20 left of the 56 runners from today and im feeling pretty crappy about my 53,300 as im the short stack at my table apart from one guy who is coming back from Harlow to luton with 1BB and a cpl of antes (he decides hes not gonna bother) but im perked up when Lee tells me that he is chip leader at his table with 101k and all 9 others at his table have shorter stackes than me (talk about chip and chair ratio vrs chips and table ratio)
I get home at 5am after being stopped for doing 70 on the M1 roadworks which has max speed 50 signs everywhere, i cant argue i was overtaking the unmarked car!!!!! The copper was as good as gold and told me just dont do it again RESULT.
so im home at 5am and the missus is home and in bed the next thing i know is her alarm is going off and its 9am and she wakes me up as we have to collect the kids from the inlaws. i manage to grab 1/2hr kip when we get home b4 i need a bath and drive back to Luton for the earlier 5pm start all the may there im thinking this is a 80 minute drive please dont let me get knocked out 1st hand! blinds are 1k/2k with a running Ante of 200 and with 3x 10 handed tables the first 4 players are out within the first few hands, i get nothing for the whole level apart from walks in my 2 BB's which mean 35 minutes into the first 40 minute level i have just under 50k and i have suited AK i raise to i think 7k or 5k i cant remember which but it seemed to be the standard opening raise round the table and the next player calls and then the next drops 2x 25k chips in the middle and i have a decision to make the guy left to act after me has under 30k and im thinking in no way shape or form can this guy fold about 12BB's if i call and my chips cross the line and low and behold the next guy fold's with only 10 people getting paid i cant see what more value he wants to get it in (maybe im learning finally lol) so my AK is in a classic race against JJ for a 100k+ pot and with a 9 high board i find myself standing behind Lee watching his progress. and its still not 5.45. i decide im gonna stay and sweat Lee for an hour and then leave but the temptation of the 8pm £25 + £5 boutny tourney gets the better of me and i lose this H/U to a really nice lads and pocket £150 and 2x bountys (pretty sure i should have had 3 but i think i paid my bounty chip to the eventual winner twice for some reason MEH)29 runners in that and it finished at 2.30am which was about the same time as the main £77 tourney.
All in ALL a great w/end total spend was £107 and total cash was £160 not record breaking profits but a great fun w/end.

Now for Genting Lutons good and bad points:

The place:
The casino itself is a nice place situated next to the Mecca Bingo in Luton just off the M1, I had never been to this place before so when i went in the 50 something lady on reception who had the same lips as Lesley Ash in them bad botox pics, was the friendliest receptionist ive ever met i was given vouchers for my 2nd vist (a free beer) my 3rd visit (£5 f.o.c for the fruitys) my 4th visit (£10 roulette/blackjack). i was asked if i would like a tour of the casino and explanation of all the games and how they worked which i politely declined. you then walk through a cpl of rows of the machines and about 12 electronic roulette tables, the card area is really nice and spacious with just 6 tables but IMO plenty of room for a cpl more if needed. the bar is tiny and mainly unmanned the restuaraunt is small but nice i think 4 roulette tables a cpl of blackjack tables a 3card poker table and a bacarat table is the whole gaming floor. But with refurbs planned for week begining 14th May im sure the wasted space at genting Luton will soon be utilized better.

The good stuff:
The food is the best value ive ever seen in a casino Gourmet Burger and chips for under £4 the drinks are reasonable.
the somking area is a cage at the back of the casino and servers its purpose and is in noway cramped when there is 20ish people there.

The Staff:
I have to start at the beginning here and the Receptionist an absolute darlin just like youd want friendly and knowledgeable bright and chirrpy. just dont stare at her botox! (now im gonna feel a twat if its her natural look)
The Bar staff pretty non existant BUT if you stand at the bar for more than 2 mins and a waiter/waitress doesnt come and serve you id be shocked.
The dealers on the whole very very good not sure of the guys name but the thick set lad with the balding head is a very very good dealer and i was also very impressed with Mathew who i thought was a credit to Genting. a cpl of lovely little female dealers as well who were above average and a guy called HERRIN i think very good dealer BUT did have a cpl of slips of the tongue with the odd swear word which me and Lee both decided was to be frowned upon but a good dealer none the less. AND THEN there Thomasso or Tomato as im sure he has been called plenty of times, the guy had no voice, and nill table control or speed or ability to count all ins at any pace other than a snail this being said he may be very new to the game and i may be being harsh.
The card room manager James is very very good, a few players on sunday night at my table were getting niggly with each other and he soon jumped on the whole table issuing 3x 2 hand penalties for people folding out of turn (my only gripe is that not all the folding out of turns were punished) James' floor assistant Paul was very very good as well.
The waiters and waitress' work tirelessly in this place i was asked EVERY 10 minutes if id like a drink or any food and these few people deserve a pay rise they are the best i have ever come across (even smiley) i think its an ironic nickname.

The Clientèle:
What i nice bunch a lot of the face's i recognised from the other Luton casino, but in this place i came across 3 strange ones a huge eastern European bloke who's opening bet on the 25/50 level Sunday night was 600 and was bust in the first level after shipping 8k with Q4 on a AK6 board and then proceeded to tell the 2 callers (Aq/AJ) that they were both awful! a thoroughly horrible horrible man. i was later told that he played quite tight tonight compared with normal PMSL. the next was a guy im not sure if ive been seated with b4 but he seemed to think i had who called himself 'Dr Bubble' i really didnt know how to take him at first as he was very very chatty but seemed a little arsey as well but over the course of the night he grew on me and i ended up thinking that he was a really nice fella. then there was this larger than life Turkish Lad i didnt get his name but he said hed only been playing 8 months and by the way he was playing EVERY 2 cards i wasnt suprised, he was talking about hands while he was not in the pot, he was calling everybodys cards (wrong every time) and he made the most horrible out of turn Angle shoot i have ever seen but was only warned as a cpl of players vouched for him never having done anything like that before and that it was 'just not him' his crowning glory was 3 hands later when he demanded a luton regular Chris was given a 2 hand penalty for merely folding 1 place out of turn. but the turk came 4th and also grew on me over the course of the night.

all in all a 8.5/10 place and im sure when the refurbs are done and the Eastern European bloke is banned (which im sure will come) it will be a fantastic venue rather than just a great venue.

What a great memory! I remember being there, and the swearing by the dealer was the C word twice in the same sentence. (almost made me walk out).

I also remember the majestic way I played the rivered 4 hand. In my efforts to make sure it was worth me going back for day 2 I made a loose call with 45s from HJ after a largish raise from EP player, the button also called. Flop came something like 246 two clubs. EP shoves putting me all in if I call. Hoping he has AK I call only for the button to call with K10clubs and EP shows KK. Two fours left in the deck one was a club so that was no good but the one I did need appeared on the river. EP goes out and calls me some sort of fish. He obv didn't know who I was.
As it panned out the 45s was one of the best hands I saw in 2 days.

Good report Jon, nowhere near as much grassing as your last report, respect. Plenty of detail, just dread to think the length of your report if you play in a week long tourney!

Dalion-almost walking out is quite a reaction, mind you, he said the word C*** twice?Shocked Shocked ...hang on a second.. this was the table you and stowjon were on...aahhhhhhhhhhh things are falling into place now.. Whistle Wink

I am not adverse to using the C word once or twice myself. I did already have the hump for some reason and the dealer was pissing me off anyhow. I also have the tendancy to change things/places if Im not comfortable. I have lost count the amount of times I have changed my flight and come home early from trips and holidays for really stupid reasons that have given me the hump. Life tilt.

I don't like the word at all, but it definitely should not have been said by the dealer as he is supposedly professinal.

Were there any women on the table?

ROFL

Seriously though, I think I would have said something to the dealer. Hopefully something with a bit of humour but still pointedly telling him to stop. But as I'm only quick witted in social situations in retrospect, I would probably end up sounding 'mom-ish' by default. My teenagers both curse a blue streak (but try not to around me lol) and I can F and blind with the best of them, but never when I'm working in front of customers or any other inappropriate situations. Then I'd end up kind of tilted because 'mommy' is NOT the image I want at the table. Mr. Green
