Had a Christmas present of a Segway ride (think there was a Tesco points 2 for 1 offer). This morning I set off and went through of all places Hendon to the RAF Museum. One bonus of doing this one is that the RAF Museum is free of charge (apart from £2.50 parking).
Prior to this the two things I knew about Segway was
And that the owner of the Segway company in the UK died falling off a cliff on his Segway. This part didn't build my confidence.
Anyway you start up with usual safety briefing and putting on helmet and padding etc. Up to this point I was bricking it, I can't stand on a skateboard or anything like that so thought I was doomed.
I had a small training session in the car park forwards and backwards and turns etc and built a little confidence. Then you go in to a small wood where there is a dirt track laid out in a loop for the fun to begin.
I made the mistake of taking the first one so everyone followed me. main difficult bit was a small hill to go up which I made a mess off and the instructor grabbed hold of the Segway to stop me going back down the hill . After that though it was great fun. In all it was an hour from arrival to finish and that was a bout right.
Really enjoyed it and want to go back for another go.
I relied on my nephew to take photos of me and most are of my back
But did get this one
(Hairnet is for hygiene reasons)
Anyone else had a go?

Nice TR Indy, they look like great fun to muck about on, not really much of a skateboarder myself either so can imagine it being tricky for a novice |
