| It has to be clearly wrong in law from the angle the referee viewed it from. |

To be honest i didn't see what grounds they had to appeal based on past appeals that have been turned down.
PS Rangers chief executive Phil Beard was unimpressed with Young's reaction to the minimal contact from Derry, tweeting: "Difficult to take after watching numerous replays but Ashley Young could partner Tom Daley at the Olympics." |

| The fact Young was barely touched and dived might of been some justification for a successful appeal. |

Not saying it was a wrong decision, but that based on other appeals thought it would get turned down. Mainly that he did touch him and player diving after contact doesn't give grounds to appeal nor does being offside affect it. |

Agree Indy I'm surprised that people are surprised it wasn't rescinded. It's fairly clear from past appeals that it had to be obvious the referee made a complete rick from the angle he gave the decision from. The referee will be marked down due to the other video evidence but they can't use that in the appeal process due to FIFA guidelines.
Most national FAs don't allow the use of video technology when the referee has already made a decision, unless it's mistaken identity, at all. |

Maybe if he didn't get the red card at the end they might have banned him. |

Ref claims to have seen the "tackle" which is why no retrospective action can be taken, therefore the ref should get hammered which obv won't happen _________________ Nil Satis Nisi Optimum |

I doubt it was the ref as his view was obstructed you could even see him gesturing to Rosicky that he couldn't see it. They can't act retrospectively if any of the match officials, not sure whether that includes the 4th official, saw the incident.
The AR might of only seen a coming together out the corner of his eye, the AR spends most of his time checking the offside line and this incident was probably 20-yards from the offside line.
I've heard different things about how they the FA frame the question to the officials. It's very easy to frame it in such a way that no retrospective action will be taken.
The prospect of a 9-match ban ("Suarez only got 8-matches for racial abuse" etc) might of influenced the wording of that question. |
