Inquiry into Rangers charity match against AC Milan
An inquiry into the Rangers Charity Foundation has been launched after it revealed the crisis-hit club would receive most of its proceeds from a friendly match.
The Ibrox club are hosting a game between former players of both Rangers and AC Milan later this month.
It had originally been organised to raise funds for the Rangers Charity Foundation, which was going to receive 60% of all money gathered by the game on March 30.
The charity, which has donated more than £2.3m to various causes since it was set up in 2002, has reduced the amount it will take from the game to 10%, meaning the majority of the money raised will go to the club, which is currently in administration.
On Tuesday, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator confirmed it had been made aware of "concerns" regarding the game after the change to the benefactors.
A spokesman for the regulator said: "We can confirm that we have an ongoing inquiry into the Rangers Charity Foundation. It would therefore not be appropriate to comment further."
Rangers boss Ally McCoist, who is expected to feature for the Rangers side in the game, previously welcomed the move by the charity foundation.
He said: "It is a tremendous gesture by the Rangers Charity Foundation to forego the majority of the proceeds of the legends match to benefit the club and it is going to be an evening of nostalgia for all the fans, players and supporters."
The AC Milan Foundation is also due to receive a percentage of money raised by the friendly, which will see Brian Laudrup and Paul Gascoigne featuring for the Rangers team, while the Italian team will include the likes of Paolo Maldini and Jean-Pierre Papin.
Connal Cochrane, manager of the charity foundation, added: "The club and the Rangers fans have been tremendous to the foundation over the last ten years and now it is our turn to stand alongside them and step up for Rangers.
"The Rangers Charity Foundation suggested the club should now benefit from the match and we were delighted that the AC Milan Foundation agreed."
How low can they stoop??? |

The desperate mud slinging at Rangers from all and sundry? Yeah I'd agree with that. Let's hear in your own words then why we're rotten to the core without any copy and pasted articles and shitty photoshops? _________________ Nil Satis Nisi Optimum |

| Giruy - You just highlight my main concerns with the OF joining us in the EPL. The OF have some of the most disgusting fans in the world. I appreciate it's the minority but they can't be ignored. No place for their nonsense in our league. |

Both sides have their idiots of that there is no doubt, good luck getting one half to actually admit it though. I'd like to think steps have been taken on our side to rid bigtory and religion from football indeed this is now pretty much non existent on match days no matter how much the permanately offended brigade wish it wasn't true. Celtic put their fingers in their ears and blame everyone else they've always been the same, from the board level down their is a point blank refusal to condemn any of their fans. The EPL don't want and certainly don't need either of the OF and i'm convinced Celtic think that by doing everything they can to bury us while we're down they'll be able to walk into the EPL which clearly isn't the case. Yes exactly, we wouldn't stand for it. My wife is from Scotland so i've been up to some games in Glasgow and experienced it all first hand. You get a true feeling of hatred on OF days and it's not just about the football. That's the bit i don't understand. There's just no need for all the religious nonsense at a football game. Take that away and you have an unbelievable rivalry with 2 massive clubs, the atmosphere is something to be experienced once in a lifetime for sure.
If i had my way, i wouldn't let Celtic play anywhere in Britain though. Solely because they can't pay respect like every other club in Britain on rememberance day; and their own board defend it. Sometimes you have to pinch yourself to see if you really are in 2012.. |

Yeah the remembrance day stuff is pretty shameful but then I'm also not arrogant enough to tar all Celtic fans with the same brush they have an idiotic minority the same way we do and both sides need stamped out, but also not to the detriment of the match day experience where people are scared to sing or stand up for fear of being thrown out. A definitive list of songs that have no place at the football should be produced and stuck to with no grey areas or inconsistency which is what's happening at the moment. _________________ Nil Satis Nisi Optimum |

Rangers director Dave King fears the club are as good as certain to go under after being placed in administration. |
Yeah read that earlier sounds pretty bleak, but then Paul Murray was on Talksport with Gray and Keys saying the opposite and how he's going to put a bid in by March 16th so I don't know what to believe anymore. Wake me up when it's all over _________________ Nil Satis Nisi Optimum |

If it all goes wrong, and they become a phoenix club, at what level would they start in? _________________ Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici |

Actually apparently not, they're trying to block us re-entering the 3rd division (to prevent the SPL going tits up if we leave and the TV deal collapses obv) essentially trapping us in the SPL with all their made up penalties enforced upon us. The SPL are scum, any other association in any other country would be doing something to help a member club whereas they're happy to hang us out to dry and stick the boot in. Of course when you have the CEO of Celtic on the board and as a close friend of Stewart Regan I wouldn't expect anything less _________________ Nil Satis Nisi Optimum |

So if one of Rangers/Celtic managed to get relegated naturally, do you think they'd fix it so it didn't happen, to salvage TV money? _________________ Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici |
