| Interesting one. Shows that you can formalise the rules all you want, there will still be different interpretations. Rule #1 - "interests of fairness" - is all anyone uses (or tries to use) anyway, if we're honest. |

A lot of these scenarios seem to involve people who are trying not to show their hands. One of the worst poker moments I have seen is the Roland de Wolfe video where he is conned into mucking the winning hand just because he doesn't want to show.
Is it really that much of a big deal to hide your hole cards in this way?
What I don't understand about this situation is that the cards aren't face-up anyway as it is an all-in situation. That is clearly wrong and the dealer shouldn't have dealt more cards until they were both face up. |

I like the Matt Savage answer - both hands should be tabled and since they weren't go with fairness rule.
It tilts the hell out of me when people make such a song and dance of showing their cards. I am sure they are vastly over-estimating the value of keeping them secret, unless the whole point is to induce tilt! _________________ "Brandon Uhl @BrandonUhl

I think one problem is that there AREN'T any formal rules for poker. Every house has a different set of rules. Of course the IFP are trying to do this, however I can't see it happening. |

Slightly confused, why did the player go all in on the river when the nuts are on the board? |

Again - the IFP and other Federation of poker (FIDPA) have a different opinion on the rules! What a total shambles. This can only have a negative impact on our sport with newcommers or other interested parties just avoiding poker as the rules cannot be defined - even by the governing bodies.
I think this is the 3rd article where the IFP and FIDPA have given a ruling opinion and 2 out of those 3 times they had a different opinion. |
