Difficult to see an English side reaching the final now that United/City are gone. Chelsea don't look strong enough unless either they or Arsenal get a lucky run to the final and avoid Real/Barce.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Chelsea and Arsenal bite the dust....... a last eight without an English team......when was the last time that happened???
Everybodys talking about Barce and Real but Bayern could go close. _________________ Poker columnist at www.poker.co.uk

Thanks Grumble
I think if we are looking for a winner then it is instructive to see the list of finalists since 2004 when Porto beat Monaco. The final has been a long list of top super clubs since then and it appears that if you are not on the elite list then you are not going to win the CL these days.
Looking at the winners and you see Liverpool, Barcelona, AC Milan, United, Barcelona and Inter Milan with runners up being Milan, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, United, Bayern and United.
I think the days of teams like Marseilles, Monaco and PSV winning it are gone. _________________ Poker columnist at www.poker.co.uk

It's always been like that. Most of clubs who have won it who you'd now class as outside the elite, were the elite clubs of their time.

Thats not what I was saying Checkov, my post referred to the differential between the richest clubs in Europe and the rest and the gap has widened in a similar way to what has happened in the PL. The dependency now for CL success is on wealth as the big clubs have become seriously cash rich. _________________ Poker columnist at www.poker.co.uk
