Good news for Micah Richards, hopefully...

It's an are you have strength in but i'd play Richards every time. Harry may go for Walker though if he gets the job

The news reporters were saying last night that this is really bad timing only four months before the Euro's.......I couldn't disagree more. I think if we get Redknapp in charge then we will have a better tournament with him leading the side than we would have had with Capello. There are always wheels within wheels in situations like these. It is possible (not likely) that Capello could have used the Terry situation to walk to serve his own ends.

Time will only tell what he has lined up but there has been talk of a job in Russia and if that is true then the contract there will be much bigger than his 6 million/year with the FA. At this time Capello can point to success with his win percentage and two successful qualifying campaigns and so he leaves with some credit to future employers. But another disastrous finals tournament would have been very bad for him because he wouldnt be able to pass off WC2010 as a one off.

The feeling in the squad didnt feel good and without that and team harmony then you have very little. There seemed to be concealed joy in Rooney's comments yesterday if you read between the lines.

It's a no lose situation. If they over perform and go well, it's an inspired choice, if they fail early on, it's because the new manager hasn't had time to settle in. The excuses are already written.

Agreed......they saved arse back in December 2007 when they appointed Capello because public pressure at that time demanded that we went for a high profile manager with an impressive CV and they didnt want another McClaren debacle. So I cannot see them going for another foreign manager because they would really be on a hiding to nothing. I think it will be an Englishman assuming of course that Redknapp wants the job but we already know that he does based on past comments.

Levy may play hard ball for a while but he will relent in the end with enough compo

I've always been one of those who thought it should be an English manager (or the national manager of any side* should be of that nationality). Even the tea lady and coach driver should be of the same nationality.

* With exceptions for the true minnows of world football, Monserrat, St Kitts etc, who need to import people with skill sets their own nationals don't have, in order to give them a leg up and a base to build on.

No-one fancy a Scottish manager? None of them are stupid enough to want to manage their own country Whistle

would be so sick if Harry left now.

I cannot see them going for another foreign manager based on public sentiment which is a shame because Hiddink would do a good job I think. Sorry Spurs fans but Redknapp is the man.

As a Chelsea fan I like Hiddink but really cant see him getting it. I think his stock must have been damaged somewhat by the failure of Russia and Turkey to qualify for 2010 World Cup & Euro 2012 respectively.
Also wouldnt it be ironic to appoint Guus who has a conviction for .........tax fraud, now that would be funny.
Personally I dont think Uncle Harry will be the saviour some people are making out. Lets face it , having to work with and nurture the talent at his disposal has never been Harry's strong point, he hasnt got his reputation as a wheeler and dealer for nothing, hes always used a high turnover of players to his advantage at club level imo.
Like someone else said though, i dont care much for international football, club before country all day long.

I had totally forgot about Hiddink and his tax fraud case back in 2006-07 or whenever it was. Cannot see him getting it based on that alone. Academic anyway as it will be an Englishman although I thought the sports personality of the year was a two horse race between Clarke and Mcilroy so what do I know

It's funny, isn't it? We have half the managers in the best league in the world, yet none want our international job while England bounce desperately from one mistake to the next.

Does anyone seriously think that Redknapp's legal issues won't suddenly become a huge matter of national importance within a year if he gets the job? But maybe the media have changed since Leveson. Maybe they're reasonable now.

Main thing is that although the next manager does not need to be English, he does need to be able to speak English to a good standard. So that's Fergie and Dalgleish out...

Aren't all Scottish managers as anti-English as the fans anyway? I know Fergie has said he could never lead out an England side playing Scotland.

Yeah can't see it happening, although Fergie would be interesting.

Looks like your friendly media are digging up stuff from the early 90's where Pearce racially abused Paul Ince. Anyone remember the incident in question?
