In the deep stack tournies at this stage you are looking to accumulate chips easily, not trap for a CR etc - hence I dont know why you are checking flop.
I would go
Bet Flop
Bet Turn
Bet/Fold river - if he raises river with JT then WP him
or possibly,
Bet Flop, Bet Turn, Check/Call river in case he has J10 etc |

| c bet the flop everyday, you're the preflop aggressor and you've hit top pair. You need to make the pay for chasing draws and second pair. A 500 bet on the flop should take this hand down, if a call, then a BIG BIG bet on the turn is a winner. I don't think this should have got to the river. |

I'm presuming we're putting the Villian on an 8 or a 9 . If i'm the villian and I hold an 8 or a 9 and see that flop I'm betting to see where I'm at, not checking. I'll check with 10 J though( which is what I suspect he had) .
The turn and the river are scare cards and ideal for a standard missed draw bluff line. its a hard call but his check on the flop means he either had trips and has you crushed with quads, (highly unlikely) or a K 8 , K 9 full house but with your stack and top 2 pair and top kicker I'm definately calling the river. pocket aces would probably be 3 betting pre flop.
I could have it all completely wrong though.

| This was very surprising and should be the winner is the AK card... I think he got the nice card which is higher in hands than the AK... |

Bet flop.
Check-call the river, to control pot and give him a chance to bet missed draw, KQ or small pair. Particularly missed draw. If he has a house...you have to do some chips in the pot, but not double him up. _________________ If it wasn't for luck I'd lose every tournament I played...If I wanted to manage a bankroll I'd be a bank manager.

Would agree with all the bet flop etc action here... what was your plan? _________________ "I find it's best to start the day with no composure and then you've got nothing to lose." B. Boatman

Thanks for all your comments.
I think this is one of those hands where you play it ABC, (Bet, Bet, Check-Call reasonable bet). I'm guilty of fancy play syndrome here and make a complete hash.
I don't remember the specific dynamics however:
I went for a check raise on the flop, representing a miss (AQ/AJ) but thinking this hits villians range enough for them to try and have a stab at it with 2nd pair/draw.
I probably believed this gave me the chance to get more from this opponent when I think I'm ahead and opponent has draw or hand I beat, and then to take the pot on the flop with the CR.
The turn isn't the worst and I expect to be ahead so bet for value/charge the additional draw.
The river was a poor attempt at setting the bet value cheaply - In reality, checking behind here would have meant I get to showdown at similiar cost to my bet instead of being pushed off possibly the best hand. |
