The only meal replacement shakes I've used were Met-rx.

I currently use Syntha 6 whey protein.

Search eBay for alternatives.

is for weight gain? muscle gain? or weight loss...

i know its not for weight loss so to speak...but i was wandering..

u know they say carbs is what grips the fat to ur body kinda?well i thought these shakes were high in protein. So instead of eating pounds of meat a week or fish etc could i just use these shakes as they high in protein and only show traces of fat.

Ah, using it as a substitute to meat in meals, then yes, it would work. You'd be eating less fat, but still be getting the same protein. Just don't over do it, remember meat is about 25% protein, whey is about 70-80%...

Quick Question...

you know them Whey products (body builders etc) can u use this as a weight loss substance? im googling but not finding clear definitive answers.

like for example if i was to replace breakfast and lunch with 2 shakes of whey and maybe have a healthy dinner

or replace all 3 meals a day ?

^^^
Plz do not try this..It won't benefit you

Try the Atkins diet if you want protein Smile

At least you won't go hungry

I've realised what I've missed from my post:

Using protein shakes as a substitute is just wrong. You can't replace breakfast and lunch with shakes and then eat a decent dinner, no sir no way.

In fact, using whey as a substitute just seems ridiculous the more I think about it. The sole purpose of it is to provide high protein content for reason of muscle repair (which in turn leads to muscle gain) replacing meals just defeats the object.

Just be sensible with what you eat at breakfast and lunch, dinner will sort itself out....

Have a decent cereal, one with low sugar, say cornflakes/weatabix/cheerios/shreddies that kinda thing and at lunch just lessen what you eat. Have a sandwich and some fruit (you are allowed to treat yourself to a biscuit bar here), salad if you like that shit, or some sort of pasta*.

For dinner, just have a smaller portion. Cut out on the chips, the size of the meat portion, have a few more veggies to satisfy the hungers pangs...

I honestly can't think now of a single reason you should ever consider think about substituting a meal with whey powder. Losing weight is all about looking after what you eat and doing a bit of exercise. As far as exercise is concerned, I don't mean go out for a jog, even a 30-40 minute walk each day is satisfactory!

*Ideally, you are doing some sort of (light) exercise along with the diet, eat pasta for lunch the days you do said exercise, the carbs will give you the energy to do that little bit extra!

Brag bit here, but I'm luckily of the age where I can still be care free of what I eat/drink and not pile on a HUGE amount, but I'm still pretty concious so at least consider what I've wrote...

Eating breakfast helps boost your metabolism, thus helping weight loss.. believe it or not Confused

(Personally i swear by porridge with added fruit ie bananas) << cheap.

Also try switching to green tea, this also helps with boosting metabolism by up too 5%, it counts

towards your daily fluid intake too. On it's own it's nasty imo, most health shops stock it. but

tetley do a range with lemon, tht isn't too bad, drop in a few sweeteners and ur away.
