Homeland - very good from the 5 eps so far, highly recommended. Clare Danes emoting with her big rubbery face is always great, plus Morena Baccarin sex scenes. *hi five!*
Also has a scene with a job interview with the question "Do you enjoy anal sex?" Hopefully it can stay realistic. I found Breaking Bad went silly. |

| State of Play, BBC series from a few years ago. Very quick download. I never caught it at the time but it's cracking stuff, 6 episodes of taut Brit thriller. |

Seriously anyone who appreciates excellent writing, acting and plot lines has to check out Breaking Bad. THE best TV show EVER!! about a broke chemistry teacher who turns to making crystal meth to support his family.
This show wins tons of awards in the states yet none of the channels here have picked it up, season 1 was on a few years ago on 5 USA, don't understand why, its seriously brilliant.
Arrested Development is very funny for the most part, some episodes can be a little hit and miss, others will have you laughing all the way through.
I quite enjoy Whale Wars on Discovery. Eco mentalists harassing japanese whalers in Antartica. which can end up like this.

I really enjoyed the 3 episodes of Black Mirror which ended last night on C4.
Good combination of Black Comedy and some thought provoking TV. |

Breaking Bad - been wanting to get into this for a while and finally have. Seasons 1 and 2 done and 4 episodes into season 3. Great show with quality writing and some great characters. Pretty addictive viewing.
Treme - David Simon's latest show. Had season 1 on my sky planner for months and when season 2 started I finally got around to watching it. Have now finished season 1 and done 3 episodes of season 2. Starting to really like it. Like The Wire the writing is really good with deep characters and although it's pretty bleak (like The Wire) this gives it the realness. Not as good as The Wire and will never be as popular. Maybe because it's about New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina and centred around it's rich culture and especially the music scene. Found it slow to get started and it's not an action show if that's what you want but every episode that I watch I seem to like and respect this show more and more. David Simon made The Wire a real Baltimore show which I figured was easier for him to do because he was from there but Treme is equally a real New Orleans show. The guy and his writing team are very clever.
Glee - Been watching this with the girlfriend (always good to have a show you can both watch now and again!) and have to say this is a guilty pleasure for me. Totally cheesy and fairytale kind of thing but for some reason it works for me and I like it. Probably shouldn't be saying this on a public forum but hey-ho, I watch a lot of the good quality stuff to be allowed something like this for a bit of brainless fun now and again. |

| The Comedy Central Roasts have been superb, and some of the stuff said does remind you that not everyone in the US is a right wing religious nutcase. |

Sorry I disagree, when I was about 11 and got the I'm Alan Partridge double VCR and those tapes we're going back and forth in my Goodmans VCR player (Ship It) almost daily, I thought this is the most flawless/genius comedy ever writing.
I've watched so many great comedys since but it wasn't till I saw Arrested Development years later that I got the same feeling. Without a doubt the greatest comedy series from America, and after all this time hoping for a movie, we get 10 epsiodes aswell!! |

Following on from my last comment...Yes 30 Rock is great, kinda started the same time as AD ended but the only other American Comedy I've enjoyed In the last, maybe 10 years, I kinda liked east bound and down but nothing special.
Don't watch the Comedy Central 30 Rock's cause their on series 5, tv link.eu it from the start, It is worth it.
* and as this thing is "recommend me a new tv show" and I've just said I've only liked 2 American comedys in 10 years please "recommend me a American comedy show" cause I'm a comedy anteater and I would be so happy to be proved wrong and given something great.
Thanks! |

I've seen a lot of the shows recommended in this thread. Parks and Recreation and Community both tickle me, check them out. |

| Borgen - Danish political drama kind of cross between the atmosphere of house of cards and the openess of west wing. Eerie how English it seems. |
