FOX POKER CLUB SOLD TO GENTING
CASINOS UK LTD FOR AN UNDISCLOSED SUM
London’s only dedicated poker venue bought by casino giant
Wednesday 23rd November 2011 – Fox Poker Club today announces that Genting Casinos have acquired London’s only dedicated poker venue for an undisclosed sum. The club was founded by Chris North and Ian Hogg in 2005 after seeing a space in the market for a poker club due to the demand created by the online poker revolution.
The club was granted a full UK Casino licence in 2008 and it opened in September 2010 after securing fundraising of around £1 million. The establishment now employs over 80 staff and has over 20,000 members in just over 12 months. The club continues to make a healthy profit and is experiencing record week-on-week trading.
The Fox Poker Club is London’s only fully licensed and dedicated poker club, situated on the world famous Shaftesbury Avenue in the heart of London’s West End.
Chris North, Managing Director of Fox Poker Club, comments:
“It was always a dream of mine to open a poker club in London and although it’s been a real challenge, with delayed openings and not getting our 24 hour licence until July this year, I’m extremely proud of what we’ve achieved. The club is in a great position to continue growing and we are very pleased that it is passing to such good hands. We wish the club and Genting all the success in the future.”
Ian Hogg, Chairman of Fox Poker Club, comments:
“We always knew there was a market for a poker club in the heart of London and it’s been a wonderful project to have been involved in. I’m immensely satisfied to see the Fox Poker Club develop into one of London’s best venues and I’ll be back to play games on a regular basis.”

Wow i love the fox club and im a massive fan of Genting so this can only be great news for poker in general, i look forward to seeing some fantastic poker tourneys (£100-£300)

Wow, I didn't expect that although i'm not completely shocked as I remember there was some mob involvement in the fox from day one.
Hopefully having casino involvement in the fox won't kill its unique poker vibe

They could have a mascot/logo fox called "genting"
like a gentleman fox wearing tweed lol... possibilities are endless

Good news......I only joined PKR for the Fox sats, and really don't like it.
This should ensure good tournament numbers with sats on Genting and promotion on the forum. |

I can confirm that online satellites will be run on Genting Poker, from as soon as we can sort it out. Meeting the Fox team on Tuesday to sort it.

I don't think this is great news and am praying that i'm wrong.
A Casino licence in Westminster is worth millions as the only way to get one is to buy an existing one.
Do remember before the Fox opened I brought into a £50+£6 tourney at the Vic which was self deal and was the same at the "Evil" Empire, when the Fox opened their tournies where always dealer dealt.
In the months to come Genting will announce that the Fox is moving to larger Premises and it will become a Casino and go back to self dealing

There is no way Genting have done this for the poker venue, I'd bet very heavily on galty being right here. |
