League One leaders Brighton held off a late fightback to beat Peterborough 3-1 at home and record their fourth successive win.
First-half goals from Chris Wood and Elliott Bennett put the Seagulls in charge of Saturday's League One clash at the Withdean Stadium, and Wood struck again to make it three 10 minutes after the break.
But Lee Tomlin headed in a cross by Craig Mackail-Smith after 66 minutes and Posh were foiled when Chris Whelpdale and Grant McCann both fired against the crossbar in the closing stages.
Peterborough had skipper McCann sent off deep in stoppage time after he received a second yellow card.
Wood, on loan from West Brom, had a goalbound shot cleared off the line before he gave Brighton the lead at the near post after 25 minutes following a fine low cross by Bennett.
Former Wolves winger Bennett doubled the advantage only two minutes later with a stunning shot from 18 yards as the Peterborough defence backed off. Wood pounced to hit his second goal 10 minutes after the interval by forcing in a low cross by Glenn Murray |

Goals from Inigo Calderon and sub Craig Noone earned Brighton a 2-0 home win over Colchester in League One on Tuesday night.
Spanish defender Calderon broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage-time with a fine left-foot finish after good link-up play with striker Glenn Murray.
Winger Noone, a recent signing from Plymouth, settled the issue three minutes after replacing Radostin Kishishev with a superb individual goal 13 minutes from time.
Colchester finished with 10 men with the late sending-off of defender Pat Baldwin for two bookable offences.
Colchester came closest when Brighton's Danish keeper Casper Ankergren denied a goalbound effort from Andrew Bond before striker David Mooney was narrowly off target from outside the area.
The victory extended Brighton's lead at the top of League One to six points |

| I'm on Brighton at 12/1, 8/1, and 9/2 - went to the Leyton Orient game last night, Brighton pretty flat and created very few chances - had a result to get a 0-0 as Orient grafted and were the better team. Lets hope Albion can get back to winning ways at Bristol on Sat |

Brighton moved three points clear at the top of League One with a 4-2 victory at struggling Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
The Seagulls suffered a second-minute shock when Will Hoskins fired Rovers ahead from 25 yards, but a rasping drive from Ashley Barnes gave Gus Poyet's side a 38th-minute equaliser.
Elliott Bennett then slotted home from a Barnes pass after 51 minutes, then a 74th-minute own goal from Cian Bolger and a 78th-minute header from Glenn Murray from Craig Noone's cross put the visitors in command.
Bolger then set up Hoskins to score his second of the game to take his goal tally for the season to 17, but the damage had already been done.
Rovers hit a post through a long-range effort from Gavin Williams and had another Hoskins strike ruled out for a marginal offside decision.
But Brighton showed plenty of quality throughout the game and had the ball in the net twice more themselves only to be denied by a linesman's flag. |

Glenn Murray scored twice as Brighton eased to their fourth successive home league win with a 4-1 victory over Hartlepool.
Hartlepool, who have never won at Brighton, were 2-0 down after 17 minutes and have now conceded four goals in each of their last three away games.
Chris Wood, on loan from West Brom, gave leaders Brighton the lead after only 12 minutes by shooting through a crowd of players after Gary Dicker had played the ball into the box from a short corner.
Murray doubled the Seagulls' advantage with a tap-in five minutes later following intelligent play from Ashley Barnes. Murray was unlucky when his shot deflected off the post and the Brighton striker later headed wide following a fine ball to the far post by Elliott Bennett.
Substitute Craig Noone struck Brighton's third eight minutes after the interval from close range, and Murray added his second in the 57th minute with a clinical finish in a one-on-one situation with goalkeeper Scott Flinders.
The Seagulls were caught ball-watching when Pools midfielder Antony Sweeney grabbed a consolation for the visitors in the 63rd minute on the edge of the six-yard box. |

Glenn Murray took his goal tally to 16 with a goal in each half as Brighton downed Plymouth Argyle 4-0 on Tuesday night.
The Pilgrims' defeat was their seventh on the trot and leaves them rooted to the bottom of the League One table following their 10-point deduction for calling in the administrators.
Murray put the Seagulls ahead with a simple finish in the 28th minute at the Withdean Stadium as Argyle were caught deep in their own box and the striker slipped the ball under goalkeeper David Button after Chris Wood's pass took a ricochet.
Murray set up Ashley Barnes just before the break with a hanging cross to the far post, but the former Argyle striker headed inches wide.
Wood doubled Brighton's lead four minutes before the interval with goalkeeper Button getting a hand to his shot from 25 yards, but being unable to keep it out and Murray rifled his second three minutes after the interval with a smart swivel-and-shot into the roof of the net.
Button thwarted a goalbound effort from Wood and Murray also had a shot blocked as Brighton dominated.
Substitute Francisco Sandaza sealed Brighton's comfortable victory in the third minute of stoppage time with a cool finish after a throughball from Gary Dicker. |
