Has anyone stayed at TI before? Read the reviews and all seems good - looking to finalise booking my trip to Vegas, due to work and various other things have had to push the dates back a bit. Anyone got any particular horror stories about TI i need to hear - or any really good recomendations?
Looking like my trip will be.......
Treasure Island - 9 nights, 2 people, indirect flights, From October 29th to November 7th - Think it works out at about £840 on expedia, or if you choose Virgin Direct flight it works out at about £1060 - depends on how baller I am feeling at the time.
Any comments etc?
(Sorry I know this has been done to death but.....well its General discussion and I felt like it ) |

TI (as it is now called) is a good hotel in a good location, which can often ve ad for a good price.
The hotel has in recent years undergone a remodel/name change, and now has a much more hip and happening vibe about it.
IMO TI and Monte Carlo are the 2 most price sensitive resorts on the Strip. Getting the right price at TI is a must, pay too much, and you could have gone to a nicer property like the Mirage (or if location doesnt matter MGM) or on very rare occassions the Bellagio.
£840/head for 2 adults in November, strikes me as expensive !! Given the current weakness of the $ vs £ and the time of year you would be travelling.
An indirect flight at that time of year will go about £350/head if booked now, but I would expect to pay somehwere around £300 if you catch it right, or even pay £350 direct with Virgin the next time they have a seat sale.
Assuming you pay £350 for flights, this would leave you with £490 for hotel accomodation, which between two of you will be £980 or ~$1800, NO WAY is TI a $200/night resort at that time of year.
For that money I would be looking at Signature @ MGM, or possibly Wynn or the B (Wynn sent me a NON gaming related offer of $199/night during Sept).
Finally onto poker, if you are a poker player, the room at TI offers very little, however it does put you in close proximity to ALL the good rooms in town , the B, the V, Wynn, Mirage (limit poker), and Caesars. The only nice room not in walking distance will be the MGM.
EDITED TO ADD: I am not advocating staying at the Monte Carlo over TI. IMO Monte Carlo is on a par ith Excalibur/Luxor pyramid rooms. Take note project city centre is being built next to the MC and the rates reflect the noise that you can expect to hear from the construction site

Haven't stayed at TI before but as someone says above, it's been given a very nice facelift. I was impressed with the facilities.
I thought the Monte Carlo was good value for money. |

I have not stayed at TI since the refurbishment though I have visited the casino. To tell you the truth it was a bit of a nightmare when I stayed there with a ton of kids running around but that was eight years ago and Vegas was trying its "kids friendly" approach.
It was still quite pleasent but like the posters above have mentioned the Monte Carlo is a decent if a bit bland hotel which is nearly always good value. It has a nice little poker room as well (the rake used to be appalling though)
I havn't been out to Vegas in nearly three years now. But before the birth of our kids I regulary went out a couple of times a year often at the same time you are going and £840 for indirect flights and 9 days seems an awful lot. I would leave booking it till the end of the summer and then going straight to the hotel via their own website and / or telephone line. You should get an indirect flight for £350 -£400 if booked around August/ Early September and I can't see a room costing you more than £550 at that time of year even if you are staying over two weekends.
Check LV Adviser website to make sure they havn't got some large convention at that time of year as that screws the prices up. |

Never said - thanks for the input guys.
Unfortunately work requires me to have 75% of my holiday for the year booked up by the end of June, so need something in place soon, so will have to book early.
However I did find a good deal...... £810 - Outbound flight Nov 4th, 9 nights, direct flight w/ Virgin. Think I will do this
The only thing I am unsure about is that through this website it says to rooms are available to book after arrival on the 6th of November. Obviously you could arrive on 5th and leave on 14th - but any arrivals on 6/11 onwards are unavailable. Other hotels have rooms, so unless its justa thing with the site and the hotel, not sure what reasoning there is behind this. |
