Well, he won three LMA manager of the year awards, only surpassed by Fergie who's won four.

If you were to query Moyes's lack of European experience, or managing world-class international players/egos, then I would agree that he clearly lacks in those departments.

Ferguson won the league with an average side last year which says volumes about him.

Very average, and the fact he then claimed he left Moyes's with United's 'strongest ever squad' also speaks volumes of the man!

I personally think they'd written off this year before it started hence they didnt throw millions at him pre season.
Fergie hand picked this guy for the long term
If the board had fans logic fergie would have got the shove on a cold tuesday night at Brighton in 1985, that would have been a solid move wouldnt it

The fact that Fergie hand picked him is no guarantee of success. Fergie has made plenty of mistakes in his managerial career and Moyes could be one of them. It was always going to be tough for Moyes but jesus christ......United's form in the league has dropped off the edge of a cliff........9th in December!!!!!!!!!

There has to come a cut off point even for United......missing out on the CL would be a disaster new manager or no new manager. 1985 is not 2013......the global appeal of United would take a massive hit if they continued to slump big time. The fact is this......Moyes is unproven at the level that United are operating at as was Fergie years ago but the bottom line is that there is a huge gamble associated with this appointment and while all due care was made......there is still a large gamble element because Moyes has never operated at that level.

Chelsea went for AVB because they thought he was another Mourinho in a similar way. I don't think Moyes will get fired this season but there has to be a cut off point if things don't change and United in not in the CL would be a disaster because that would be seen as automatic before the season started transitional period or not.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying that Moyes position is undentable.
I agree that if they never made CL this season then there would be large repercussions, probably ending with them letting Moyes go but all this talk of him going before xmas is never going to happen. I put a wager out there about 4 or 5 weeks back that Man U would end up top 4...nobody wanted it.
Although i wouldnt want evens on it now considering results i really dont think they will be that far from a CL spot come may.
They are lacking a provider for the front 2, that much is obvious.
I also think the two centre halfs are starting to creak a bit.
I think he will get a fair amount of cash to play with come the window in Jan
If after those decisions and 3 months on they still arent doing the business i think the board have every right to say weve made a mistake and move on.
IMO he 100% wont go before the Jan window irrespective of results.
Why would they have given him a 6 year contract if they thought it was a gamble?

the players haven't been performing on the whole and the midfield was highlighted as weak last season (amazing we won the title at a trot really)

it's just been highlighted even more as the other teams have all improved

young hasn't really stepped up since his transfer apart from a handful of games, nani has always been inconsistent, been moaning about carrick for years and it seems without him things have got even worse! though we went behind in loads of games last season as well

dread to think where we would be in the table if rooney wasn't on form

however it is a team full of champions, 8 points off 2nd place and a long way to go

putting it on moyes this early is laughable!

I don't think that is the issue with many people......the issue is if Moyes was the right man for the job from day one. Just my personal opinion but he has always smacked of a manager out of his depth at OT.

He often looked out of his depth when he was with us.
