Can you use the new nexus like a standard phone e.g your own number, simcard etc?

I'm asking as I was going to buy the new Asus Fonepad 7 but the spec isn't as good as the new Nexus 7

Depends on your budget and if you have an extensive iOS app catalog. I have an ipad 4 and my son has an ipad mini and I prefer the mini ipad size. The new ipad mini with full hd is coming out at the end of this month.

I've just spoken to google play and the rep told me that you can't use the nexus 7 as a phone, you need to use 3rd party software

If you decide to go with the iPad, Tesco are doing a 30 off redemption code, and PC World have a discount + 30 voucher with the code iTAB5.

(Please satisfy yourself these still work before ordering and blaming me!)

I like the latest xperia, though its prob twice the price of the nexus 5, also the screen viewing angles aren't that great due to the coating they put on to get the dust and waterproof certificate

pros and cons to each device, tablet wise I'd get the nexus 7, phone you are gonna have to make your own mind up ;]

if I was buying money no object right now though I'd probably get the note 3 for the better battery life

I use ipad HD and Nokia 925 4g, going to get the new sony and and S4 next month to try.

Probs stick with ipad and S4 TBH although the windows 8 on 925 works well with my work/office accounts.

Hey, sorry.. no I don't know I was saying yes you should just buy it...as they are both cool gadgets...

Re the Xperia's I have the Xperia T and I like it but its crap... have had 3 break on me within a year and this one is a big buggy also...

Would go Nexus 5 or HTC One if I was in the market for a new phone...

My Nexus 5 arrived yesterday and I must say its superb. KitKat looks and feels amazing and the phone is lightening quick.

Do the deal, you won't be disappointed.
