Hi All,

I've not been around a while as I've been busy preparing my new website which aims to provide poker players in the UK & Ireland a means by which players, of ALL abilities, are able to enter major poker tournaments in the UK & Ireland for 'pennies' in the pound.

These tournaments will eventually include ALL UKIPT, EPT and festival events as well as the Irish Open and the larger buy-in events (£200+) where the buy-ins are usually reserved for big time money players where £200+ is just another spin on a roulette wheel.

The site will be based on the concept of 'lowest unique bid' whereby individuals will register on the site, buy bids at 50p - £1 each and effectively 'bid' on the buy-in of the tournament itself with the winner of the ticket being the person who has the 'lowest unique (non copied) bid'.

The winner will then pay that amount for the ticket.

Examples of websites for this concept can be seen via http://www.winnit.com/ or http://thesmartbid.com/

At this time I'd like your thought on this idea and any questions you may have.

I'll answer ALL and ANY questions....

We're hoping the site to go live in late summer!!

I have zero interest in any site like this personally I'm afraid.
I think there is a possiblilty for a "groupon" site where you could get seats etc in some team manner, but may as well stick £5 on a roulette wheel and play the tourney if you win.

hey mark, good to see you back!

hasn't this been tried before, a lot of those penny auction sites don't exist any more

didn't john tabatabai start one up?

http://bidibot.com/

http://www.thehendonmob.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37085

ah I see you were well aware of that http://www.thehendonmob.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38338

any idea what the issues were and how you are going to avoid them? are any of the early penny auction sites for any subject still around?

good luck and hopefully the inevitable flaming doesn't get too bad ;]

He did but this site will ONLY be offering buy-ins for tournaments in the UK and Ireland. There will be NO other items on offer!

these sites are a con and a blight on society. 50p for a 1p bid. total bullshit.

if you want to help the poker commnunity, or finally be a genuine part of it then why not just offer £1 sweepstakes into events with a clearly marked vig.

I hope i am clear enough when i say that i hope this fails. I hope all these insidious site fold and lose money.

1. There'll be a MAXIMUM number of bids per item which will generate profit. This is to be set at a MAX of £50 / €50. (Bear in mind the minimum ticket price will be around £225 / €225 so approx 25% max per ticket)

In effect if we offer a £225 ticket at £1 per 'pick' then the maximum number of 'picks' for this ticket will be 275. Once 275 picks have been made then the 'lowest unique pick' will win the ticket.

2. There will also be an 'end-time' at which time if not enough 'picks' have been chosen then the prize is 'null & void' and all pickers get their pick money back.

Hope that answers your questions???!!

^^^ This.

The problem with a clearly marked vig is that it limits the amount of profit that can be squeezed out of those gullible enough to use the sites.

ok so u have a ticket £225 and if u dont get to 225 u take the ticket off offer and just send everyone their money back?

so its a no lose situation?
