I'm looking for $1-2 and/or $2-4 fixed limit holdem games in Vegas. Does anyone know of brick & mortar locations where these can be found. I am only finding $3-6 via my web research. I can find $1-2 and $2-4 in Los Angeles, but don't seem to find them in Vegas.

Thanks

I don't think you will find $1/$2, but the following might be useful:

I think that I saw a $2-$4 game in Sam's Town. I remember being surprised that a game that small could be viable for the house.

"viable for the house". Your point is well taken. In fact I understand many casinos have closed their poker rooms because the floor space is more profitable if used for slots, roulette, and other games where the house has the odds, as opposed to taking a rake or service fee.

Nevertheless, I do think there is a strong market for low-limit poker rooms. The L.A. area rooms have been particularly successful, with rooms like Bicycle, Commerce, Normandie, etc., that always have the low-limit games that I have described. Perhaps the L.A. area is the true "Mecca" of poker, and not Vegas. I also played in a small room in Bakersfield called Golden West. This was a few weeks ago and was the first time I had played in a live casino card room. The dealer and player etiquette was great. I even won several pots, and learned that the real play is not too different from home games and the Wilson simulator. Commerce was also great, and is where my wife enjoyed her first play. In contrast, I was at Harrah's in New Orleans earleir this week. The etiquette there, both dealers and players was horrible. They suck!!

The Four Queens has a $1/$2 limit game (for beginners) at 2pm everyday. The table is usally full or nearly full.

I've seen reports on twoplustwo that Binion's has been running $2-4 games of late. The Palms also has 2-4, I believe. The B&M forum on 2+2 is a good place to get this kind of advice.

They know you are a beginner when you ask questions such as:

Question. Hold'em, two players heads-up both have heart flushes, Ace high on the board.
The 2nd highest card is with player 1, a King. The 3rd highest card is with player 2, a Jack.

Do they split the pot since the high card is on the board, or does player 1 win the pot since he has a King.

I've often wondered what the ruling is in this situation:

Two players heads up in hold'em. Three hearts on board. One player has AK of hearts and other player has AQ of hearts. Is it a split pot, or does the second hole card count?

Okay smarty pants. What if it is a planted question to make one look like a beginner??

Actually the dealer at our table did not know the answer, and had to call for a more experienced dealer to answer the question. One of the "experienced" players insisted that the pot be split [and perhaps was taking advantage of a younger player and/or dealer]. In this case it was $3-6 fixed limit game at Harrah's New Orleans. By the way, their poker room etiquette is horrible compared to what I saw in the Gardena, CA rooms.

Cheers.

Unbelievable, this is really really REALLY REALLY basic stuff. It reminds me of a Hold'em game at the Vic, when a player tried to take the whole pot when we played the board - 5-6-7-8-9, since he had a better kicker to his straight......
