Amicable split? Good tutelage? Just wanted to keep all the fruits of your labour?

Would be really interested to find out more from someone to have experienced this first-hand at the stakes you play at.

So I have left Stake me to play!!

When I signed the contract last year I only had 2 instances of make up until Christmas and had managed to wipe them both times within a week or two. So we were definitely +EV.
When they advertised the deal they were offering there was talk of top 2 leaderboard winners getting the use of a BMW for a month (supposedly nice ones), however I have not heard these mentioned in a long time.
We were also told that Stake me to play understands the isolation that online players can experience and with that in mind we will hold social gatherings about twice a month for the players and team to socialise. A date was finally set for some time in December and a hotel was booked by me and I was looking forward to it. I then got a call 2 or 3 days before saying it had been postponed as some people couldn't make it and numbers would be down etc. There has never been talk of another one at all.

So this was 2 things that didn't materialise and then most important of all, the coaching.
In all the time I was playing for them I only received 2 coaching sessions, both of which were very good and informative.

In January this year my wife was seriously ill and my volume had been affected massively and my mental state was in the wrong place to be playing. But I carried on as best I could and ended up in over $800 make up, I hated it as I owe no one any money. Found this very tilting as well. Also started to not enjoy playing as much as I did and put it down to pressure of volumes. Anyway make up was cleared 2 weeks ago when I won about $1300 in various tourneys in 1 sunday with great results. This now put me in profit and I had a week off to think.

Long and short of it is I left because they were not delivering on initial promises and 6 months is plenty of time to have sorted it out. Also not being free to play on Stars whatever I wanted was a pain in the arse.
I feel relieved already and already enjoying playing again

One of those situations that you just have to give it a shot or you would always wonder what it would be like.

Always nice to leave in profit and play when you want. At least you did get some coaching out of it which has helped some aspects of your game.

Thanks for the write-up Neil. Well done for working your way back into profit even though they didn't keep their end of the bargain and you had some serious personal problems Clap

Nice one Neil. Gave you some opportunity at higher stakes in which to seem to flourish for the most part. Thanks for the writeup and as Knassen says if you still want to play at higher stakes but need the roll you won't be short of a few stakers Wink

I'm interested to know what their stance was on festival events is. Let's say a Scoop fest came round which was 109/550/1100 buyin would they consider putting people in at least the low? Not that it matters to me I just wondered if they chose people to take shots.

Enjoyed playing higher stakes and got into the mindset of not worrying about the buy in, as I proved by spinning it up on occasion. Festival events i'm not sure about to be honest but there was never any mention of playing these.

Will think of a package to put up in the next couple of weeks

WOW!!
My 1st experience of staking and you can stick it up your arse.
I am so glad I keep accounts and copies of everything.
On 2 occasions previously with Stake me to play since I started they have got the figures wrong to my disadvantage and I had to notice this and inform them so it could be corrected, which it was both times.

At the end of February they changed their chop dates to monthly without much notice either it was not smooth from my point of view.
The day I decided to leave I did some final figures and shipped what I thought to be the correct amount, I then got a message saying I had shipped $97.44 to little which I knew was wrong.
Basically I have spent 2 hours doing this and I have screenshotted pokerstars transaction history for 60 days for them for payments received and sent. After bonus, rake and original stake is taken into account I owed them $49.70 which I have sent.

This is just to say watch them staking companies as I have heard enough about horses being arseholes on other forums but in this case the stable could not even keep track of figures properly throughout arrangement. Neither did they keep to what they first advertised for horses.
Their loss really as I always paid the money, never strayed out of agreed games or stakes but I am finished with being staked full time and I would tell anyone to consider it seriously first. If I was not on the ball with figures I would have been properly done over.

Probably just poor stake/money management from them, doubt they'd have noticed if you'd have gamb00led it up outside of the agreed parameters either TBH.

Very true I think, I never once had to send an audit of games or anything but just assumed everything was on Sharkscope

I wish I'd seen this thread sooner & just now read through all of it.
Was an interesting read. tks.

I've actually considered going this route on a couple of occassions but then stuff in my life was too busy & knew I wouldn't be able to committ to the time & volume. I've always had a decent roll online (huge bankroll NIT & kept way more than necessary online) but recently with Skrill shutting down for Canadians I withdrew a large percentage of it as well as getting rid of a bunch of sites I was playing on (unable to move the money around now w/o Skrill so I just closed them up). Now I'm basically only rolled for the micros & am thinking of trying to grind it up (SNG-MTT)... 'or' look for some backing arrangement for nlhe mtt.

Also interested to hear your game choice is O8 & tournaments. I don't think I've ever even played an O8 tourney online but do really like the game (have only played it on cash tables). I've often wondered what the tournament play for it would be like... as far as the skill level of the players in them goes.

tks for the read.

i was staked by a staking site about a few months ago not SMTP

very quickly realised it was a win win situation for them and a lose win situation for me

after 2 days grinding i felt like i had sold my soul, my only intention on day 3 was to make profit so i could pull out, which i did

a friend on here then offered to stake me, terms were fair, no greed involved at all, we chat on a personal level on a regular basis and i can learn all i need to learn from him, plus i can play when i want with no pressure, now in 3rd month and so far every month has been in profit, we have also managed to put aside around $1k to spend on fun at stratford apat in april, so expect us to be very drunk and highly stonned

Knassen you may be an inchworm microbe but you're one of lifes decent folks
