First Lieutenant is a great each-way bet at 4/1 with 1/4 1,2,3. I'm not going to tip it here as the price is not too widely available and I don't want to boast tomorrow if hardly anyone got on. The horse does not stay the Gold Cup trip and it didn't really quicken over 2m5f in the Ryan Air. This could be his trip on this easier course. It's nearer 8/13 than Evs a place on Betfair and it can definitely win. Fair play...First Lieutenant WON @ 7/2 3.05 The other one of the "fancied" horses I shall be against is Zarkander. This one ran poorly at Cheltenham, it looks like a dour stayer and a tricky ride. Although it has worn blinkers on the flat I regard them as a big negative the first time over hurdles. I would lay 7/1 quite happily. Oh dear...Zarkander WON @ 11/2 A friend of mine who is a good judge says Thousand Stars each-way at 11/1. The 1/4 1,2,3 certainly makes that a +ev bet and in a world where I could get unlimited amounts on with all bookmakers I might have three in the race. It's going to be hard enough getting two bets on though so I'll reluctantly leave that one. This friend I need...Thousand Stars was 3rd @ 11/1 3.45 I think the bookies and the public get mesmerized by the fact that the race is over the National course and this makes them start to imagine 50/1 winners where they keep all the money. This one really isn't that hard though. Tartan snow wins at 100/1...money kept!! Don't give up the day job lads... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() _________________ Mark S. - Read all about my 'live' poker exploits and other ramblings: http://ukpokerukpoker.blogspot.com/ or http://ukpoker61.blogspot.com/ **New** http://ukpoker-vendeep1.blogspot.com |

Fair enough...here's a comment on the 4.50 race...
Firstly I have to say I am against the favourite. Captain Conan looked like a horse with a round action to me when I saw him earlier in the season. I imagined right-handed on heavy ground and possibly 2m4f would suit. I laid him at Cheltenham thinking conditions would not suit. This race is sure to suit more but there were bad vibes going into Cheltenham with doubts about the race he'd go for. I thought he was very disappointing and no real excuses came to light. Oops!...won at 6/5 And the 5.25 race... Battle Group is a dodgy old horse who's price got smashed up yesterday! Won at 8/1 _________________ Mark S. - Read all about my 'live' poker exploits and other ramblings: http://ukpokerukpoker.blogspot.com/ or http://ukpoker61.blogspot.com/ **New** http://ukpoker-vendeep1.blogspot.com |

Mark - I'm not really sure what your point is here ? Are you revelling in the fact that the tips lead to a (small) loss on the day ? Were you watching during Cheltenham when Neil came up with a significant profit ? Are you questioning his ability to make money in the long term ?
Frankly, I suggest you keep your smugness and idiocy to yourself. We can all read Neil's thoughts on the website and don't need a running commentary from you as to whether they win or not. If you want to post up your own thoughts on the races and the rationale behind them then that would be very welcome and we can see how you fare against a proper professional. |

At least Neil puts some work into what he does and anyone who followed him during Cheltenham wont mind taking a small hit today. All your earlier post highlights is that you are an even bigger b****x than the one I imagined you to be. |

Mark,
If you are only going to pick out negative stuff and post it to try and make us look bad the only person who looks like an idiot is you. You missed out the 10/1 winner (that we backed at 12s) and all the comments that got it spot on laying the shortest favourite of the day etc. Did you follow the tips at Cheltenham? Neil puts a lot of time into his write ups and I for one am very lucky to be following him in. bettingemporium.com is currently free to registered users. We do not want ANYTHING from the write ups copy and pasted even if it's the good stuff as we want people to register to use it. Consider your wrists well and truly slapped. I wouldn't want to make you the first person unwelcome. ![]() Joe |

Mark S your such a prick.
What do you achieve in trying to make Neil look bad ? I have followed Channing's tip since he started posting them on Black Belt poker and I can safely say I am in profit from backing his tips. I see you've posted your tips, if they all lost I think your the only knob on here that would say "Great tipping don't give up the day job" |

I really don't know about the long term viability of these tips as I haven't looked at the site and so will not make any comments but what is incredibly silly are Mark's comments.
All risk environments have variance and are based on probabilites and uncertainties and not certainties just like a poker game. You don't get a bet in horse racing that is the NUTS like you do in poker unless its bent. To quote bets that didn't work be it in horse racing, day trading, poker, blackjack or whatever when you have no idea of the long term EV that is inherent in the methods being used is naive, silly and uneducated......I don't understand the comments which are either done with no thought or with some ulterior motive. I think Joe/Neil can accept brainless comments. What Mark said is akin to someone standing on hard 15 against a dealer 6 in blackjack who then proceeds to pull two consecutive sixes to make 18 and slating the player for making the wrong move when millions of hands of computer simulations prove conclusively what the right move is. _________________ Carl Sampson can also be seen on his blog at www.pokersharkpool.com |

ROI applies to betting aswell as poker. I don't expect to win every bet I place as much as I expect to cash in every tourney I play. If you're taking it as a snapshot, then yes it was a losing day, but long term, I know this will show/has shown a LSP. As for my previous comment, I really don't know what you bring to this forum, apart from peddling shuyt.
