It’s been a disappointing couple of days for Barny and I. We’ve been playing well and I got into good positions in both events, only to take a couple of horrible beats to get knocked out in the late stages. Still it’s like Ram says: ‘It’s not taking bad beats that matters its getting beat badly that you shouldn’t do.’ But today was not about us. Today was the final of the $5,000 pot limit Omaha and Ram and Joe were both there. Although the field was a relatively small seventy-two I saw no dead money in the room so two Mobsters in the money was a good showing.

Joe never found cards but played a strong game and did well to secure fifth position. With four left Ram hit the front and looked in command as he had for most of the day but things went against him and in the end his fourth place finish was disappointing. Well done to both of them for getting our American trip off to a good start and congratulations to Howard Lederer who was playing his third consecutive final and pulled off an impressive win.
