Good Call Mate

The Christmas Cracker 2003, Luton £150 Pot Limit 7 Card Stud Report by Ram on Tuesday, 9 December 2003 at 5:26 pm
It’s always great to come back to Luton; the venue of my first ever win in a £10 pot limit hold-em comp. The staff are great and the atmosphere is always friendly.
Luton festivals always open with my favourite tournament, seven card stud pot limit, which in my view is the most skilful tournament. It is the one in which the better players have the biggest edge. In fact it is a shame that there are not many pot limit seven card tourneys held at other venues anywhere in the world.
This was the first event on the Prima Poker Tour without all four of us playing. Ross was out with a swollen eye which he had trouble opening due to the pain. It was left to the three of us to celebrate Joe’s birthday with a bottle of champers. Congratulations mate. The good news is that Ross is more or less recovered and should be back in action for tonight’s pot limit Hold’em event.
The seven card stud tournament produced a field of 87 players and I was the sole remaining Mobster going into the final with average chips. After a couple of early exits I found myself sticking half of my chips into pot against someone with 4 jacks! Five minutes later the rest of my chips went in with Ace high, my opponent calling me on the river with 2 threes. Good call mate hope to see you again soon.
