This Hendon Mob Poker League is now over. Here are the full details of the new Hendon Mob Poker League 8. Mob League Event #6 - Tuesday 9th August 2005After the break for the World Series 55 players took to the tables for the 6th Stan James sponsored Hendon Mob Forum league event. The usual $500 added prize-money was there together with three $100 bounties to be won for knocking out Barny, Joe and Ross who were all in attendance, although it looked as if only two of those might be claimed approaching the end of the tournament. For the top 20 finishers this time there was also the added prize of the excellent Stu Ungar biography by Nolan Dalla and Peter Alson - One of a Kind, signed by both authors. First to exit this time was Timster, his AK running into AA. Sevenof9, playing in his (or is that its?) first tournament, didn't last long either, flopping top pair, kings, Grumbledook busted him with pocket aces. After 20 minutes Criamulus has the lead, but it doesn't last long. He makes top pair top kicker with AQ and Ross moves in on him. Criamulus calls and Ross is semi-bluffing with a flush draw but gets there on the river. Criamulus is denied not just a clear chip lead on the now 1st placed Ironside but also the $100 bounty. Grumbledook, RupertE and Ross are amongst the leaders. Daveymck is on the end of a bad beat, all in against Belgariad with KK Belgariad makes his set of 10s, on the river just to rub it in, and Daveymck is out in 46th. Barny is the first of the Mob to exit, taken out by Reevio, short stacked and all-in preflop with AJ Reevio's AK is well ahead. Reevio takes the first $100 bounty and 5 league points for that. Joe is doing somewhat better, doubling up after making a set of 8s. Commieboy is out courtesy of GmoneyAK. Commieboy has AQ and the flop comes ace high, GmoneyAK lives up to his name however and that moves him up to 4th place at the first break, where the leaders are:
10 minutes after the break and the second Mobster falls. A very very short
stacked Ross moves in with not much more from the big blind and A With 24 players left after 80 minutes there were just 4 more players to be eliminated before the remainder were assured of some placing points and a signed copy of One of a Kind. Yethmate had built up quite a stack and was bullying the table relentlessly, a short stacked Criamulus on his left able to pick off a couple of bluffs and double through twice. Nitrilocide and Devilworm then exited and it had looked like Belgariad would be out on the book bubble, losing with QQ to Mrmoss' AA and left with just 580 chips but managing to double through with pocket 3s to see _PJB_ knocked out in 21st before being eliminated himself. With 19 left the leaders were:
Alanc, the league leader, was in the points again with 6,275 just ahead of Joe on 6,075. Joe moved up the rankings knocking out the short stacked Moggy1459 with A 18th placed was The_Ant who re-raised RupertE's 1,200 raise all-in for over
6,000. Rupert declared he was "going in with the worst" and promptly
did just that, calling with A The very next hand and londongirl is out in 17th, reraising Yethmate all-in with pocket 8s and getting a quick call from Yethmate's cowboys. Yethmate flops a set. "Oops" says londongirl before departing. Brendoni then takes 2nd place to Yethmate doubling through RupertE with KK against QQ. It's one of the few pots Yethmate hasn't been involved in, his stack approaching 30,000 and being used to good effect. With Alanc still in Angry_Badger jokes that there should be a bounty on him, not the Mob. Joe defends Mob honour by reraising Alan all in preflop the next hand and takes it down. Joe takes the chip lead at the table with 8,500. Shorts stacks Sinai and Zxcvbn002 are taken out in one hand by Yethmate's pair of aces and Alanc is moved to their table, there is a now huge difference in chips at the two remaining tables. At Joe's table StackBasher, MrsSplash, Scoobysnacks, Angry_Badger, SofaSurfer_ and Criamulus can muster up under 35,000 chips between them, less than Yethmate has just by himself with over 100,000 chips at his table! Angry_Badger is out in 14th to MrsSpash's pocket rockets and 13th is Stackbasher. With the blinds at 200/400 it's only 675 for SofaSurfer to call from the big blind with 7,4 and he rivers a straight to send Stackbasher home. 12 left and play goes hand for hand. We're down to 11 when Criamulus picks up red 9s on the button and shoves in his stack of around 4 or 5 thousand. Joe is on his left and doesn't have much to think about with red aces. It's the money bubble now and after Joe picks up the blinds next hand he is back as chip leader at his table with 15,400. On the other table Yethmate and Brendoni have 35K and 23K a piece on the other. MrsSpash and Alanc double up and Joe has been picking up more than his share of blinds and Reevio is also doing well with 5 minutes until the second break. Sofasurfer is playing a waiting game, passing in the big blind and down to 1000 chips in 11th place after posting the 300 SB, but finds pocket queens and duly doubles up taking the BB also after Reevio puts him all in pre-flop. On the next hand Joe makes a minimum raise from the small blind and Reevio makes a large reraise from the big blind. "Ok Reevy" says Joe, before laying down, he claims, AJ. After the break Scoobysnacks returns and declares himself a new man. One advantage of playing at home, the tournament breaks may only be 5 minutes but at least you're not contesting with hundreds of other equally desperate men for the restroom. Yethmate doubles up RupertE who flops three tens, Yethmate muttering "oh dear" as he calls Rupert's final all-in bet in a huge pot leaving Yethmate, earlier the chip leader, down to the felt and in danger of becoming bubble boy. It's not to be though, a desperately short stacked Scoobysnacks moves in with pocket 7s and is called by Reevio who has J6os. Reevio hits his jack and we say goodbye to Scooby; we have a final table, with the blinds at 400/800:
Yethmate manages an unlikely triple up and more, all in with Q RupertE, having hurt Reevio in an earlier hand taking down a 14,000 pot on the turn, finishes him off with two pair and Reevio is out in 9th for $56.25. 8th is Pommy for $75, moving all in with Q Two hands later and Joe moves in, Brendoni calls as does RupertE who doesn't want to pass (sorry for the language) his A,8 with the chance of a bounty. Rupert pairs an 8 on the flop but Joe has J, K so it doesn't change much, Joe still needs to pair and the turn and river do just that, two kings to give Joe trips and a triple up to 21,000. League leader Alanc is taken out by RupertE in 6th ($121). Alanc re-raising
RupertE who has A Joe knocks out another, Yethmate, in 5th. Joe has pocket 9s and Yethmate's A,2 isn't improved. Yethmate gets $150. We play with 4 for quite a while, Joe's and MrsSplash's stacks both up and down regularly and as the blinds move up to 1,000/2,000 RupertE is pushing his chips around aggressively. RupertE takes a decent pot off Joe leaving him at 60,000, Joe at 35,000, MrsSplash
at 25,000 and Brendoni at 15,000. Brendoni doubles up against RupertE however
to even things up and MrsSplash is now the shortie, she's not shy with her chips
and is up and down for a few minutes before finally being knocked out by Brendoni,
her K With 3 left play livens up even more with Joe and RupertE both making big preflop re-raises against each other and both laying down in turn before Joe takes the chip lead making a Queen high straight with the 8 through Jack on board but it's short lived and things even up quickly with Joe and RupertE both on 43,000 and Brendoni on 51,000. Joe picks up big slick a couple of times but gets no action and RupertE retakes his earlier lead after winning several medium sizes pots, getting half the chips in play with Brendoni and Joe both on around 33,000, before the 3rd break Brendoni takes a nice pot from RupertE leaving the stacks at the break:
The blinds move up to 1,500 and 3,000 and shortly afterwards Brendoni raises
to 9,000 on Joe's big blind. Joe has picked up a pot in the meantime and doesn't
have much less than Brendoni and after thinking comes back over the top for
29,000 more, Brendoni reraises all-in covering Joe and Joe calls with Q Brendoni has a slight advantage going into heads up play but that's wiped out
in the first few hands as RupertE takes the lead. Rupert takes a huge hit however
when Brendoni completes in the SB with 9 A chip and a chair as they say, and Rupert still has 17,000 chips. He manages
to double up, making a straight with 8,6 shortly afterwards and doesn't look
back, taking the chip lead and then the tournament with J League standings can be found here. The next league event is Tuesday 16th August, that's next week as we catch
up after the break. See you next Tuesday! |
