Howe'ay the lad

Luong-Huu Bui raised to 80k in middle position. A crippled Richard Howe had 10k invested in the small blind and the call was obligatory as he only had a further 5k behind. He had 7 7 against Bui’s A 9. The flop of J 4 8 was good for Howe but running 9 9 on turn and river sent him out of the tournament in 6th place. He takes home £5,000.

Gala have added prizes for the top five finishers: 4th-5th get a $320 online tournament ticket; 2nd-3rd get a £500 buy-in to the GCBPT Bristol event in June; and 1st gets a £1,500 entry to the GCBPT Grand Final in Bristol.

Howe takes a huge hit.

How raises to 73K UTG, Rupinder Bedi re-raises all-in for 158K

After a while, Howe makes the call, Bedi shows K K and Howe tables J J

Flop: 5 7 Q

On the turn, Bedi hits a K, making the river card of a 2 meaningless.

Final pot: 316K

Howe is still in it, but he’s on life support.

Howe doubles through Bui

Howe raises to 110K and Bui re-raises to put Howe into a decision for the remainder of his chips (another 65K)

Howe hits a flush (and a straight) on the river and doubles up through Bui

Maudlin might have his name on this one

Dave Maudlin moved all-in on the button for 99k. After a long deliberation Richard Howe called in the small blind with 9 9. He was in good shape against Maudlin’s K 8. First two cards out of the deck: 8 8! The rest of the board ran out 5 5 T and Maudlin doubled up. Howe is in a bit of trouble now.

Richard Howe doubles up

On a flop of A 2 3 Howegets all of his 171K chips in the middle and is called after a while by Dominic Kay.

Howe shows AA for a flopped set and Kay shows A 5 for a gutshot straight draw.

The turn and river bring a 10 6

This leaves Dominic Kay extremely short with 28K and Howe now has a monster stack of 343K

Rupinder Bedi moves in under the gun for 71,300. Richard Howe thinks before calling with A Q which is in big trouble against K K The flop of J J 9 doesn’t bring the ace Richard needs but the turn of 3 gives him the nut flush possibility. A blank 7 on the turn doubles up Bedi to 150,000 however.

River Bedi

Rupinder Bedi moved all-in for 21k in early position and Richard Howe reraised a further 39k in the small blind. Big blind Steve Milton appeared to have a tough decision but eventually passed. A 3 for Bedi versus K 4 for Howe. The first two cards out K 4 appeared to extinguish all hope for Bedi but the presence of the 3 on the flop gave him some succour. The turned J did not help the all-in player but the rivered 3 resuscitated him.
