Gala Casinos Poker Tour - Teesside Day 2 - Final

News & Reports

Deal made - play continues

As we understand it, a rather unorthadox deal has been made, with two thousand coming off the top for 3rd place, with current chip leader James O’Connell getting £1000 extra on top of that (£16,000) if he now comes third.

Chip Counts

1 James O’Connell 1,190,000
2 Anthony Arlot 579,000
3 Keith Hawkins 417,000

Players are on a short break.

And then there were 3

James O’Connell limps UTG for 30,000, Keith Hawkins passes and not for the first time Richard Trigg is keen to get his chips over the bet line, moving all-in for 397,000. James dwells for a while before calling, relieved to see he is dominating with 9 9 to Rick’s 5 5 the board:

A A Q K T

The 9s hold up and Richard Trigg, previously a dominating chip leader, is out in 4th – £9000 better off.

An All-in!

Tony Caygill in the CO announces that he is all-in. Anthony Arlot in the SB tanks for a while, at least 3 minutes. He eventually folds, but Keith Hawkins insta-calls in the BB

Tony Caygill: A T

Keith Hawkins: A Q

The flop: 4 5 6

The turn: Q which means that Tony Caygill is now drawing dead.

The river is a King and Tony Caygill finishes in 5th place for £6,300

We now have 4 players’ remaining.

Keith may have the hump

James O’Connell moves in for exactly 200,000 on the button and Keith Hawkins moves in over the top from the small blind. Richard Trigg passes from the big blind, accidently flipping over T 3 in the process. It was a good move by Keith as his A 4 is just about ahead of James’ K J even before the two dead hearts are taken into account, unfortunately for him the flop put him well behind and things didn’t improve from there:

K 9 3 Q 9

James is back up over 400,000.

Keith The Camel Hawkins announces that he is all-in from the SB.

Tony Caygill (who has Keith covered) makes the call.

Tony Caygill: K J

Keith Hawkins: A K

The flop: T 4 7 which gives Tony a flush draw.

The turn: 2

The river: 7

Keith The Camel wins a 700,000 pot!

Predictably....

Colin Wu moves all-in next hand and is in good shape when Tony Caygill calls with just 7 5 from the big blind. Wu has 8 9 which is much the same as big slick in the situation, but the board is not kind:

K 4 3 looks good to start but 7 7 send Colin Wu, Edinburgh champion, out in 6th place with £4800.

Colin Wu is down to 80,000

Anthony Arlot bets 70,000.
Colin Wu goes all-in and Arlot calls.
Arlot shows Q Q and Wu – J J.
The board is 9 10 5 9 and Q.
Colin Wu’s call left him with 80,000 and put Anthony Arlot on 570,000.
