His pocket 9’s rivers another to beat his opponents AJ out of a pot.

Final board: 4 5 6 7 9

Ex-Leader Is Out

Kevin Smith made a move with 7 8 after Stephen George limped UTG with T K

With all of Smith’s chips in George made a risky but well timed call, and it paid off in the end.

Russell Thompson out

His 5 7 move doesn’t stand up to Barrie Aspinall’s monster pair of twos (with an ace kicker of course).

Another 90 minutes to play today

There are 20 minutes left of level 8, we will then have a short break before the final level of play. There was talk of play ending earlier but with very little action this last level, and more players anticipated for tomorrow than started today, a few more will have to be eliminated before the night to keep the final day’s numbers reasonable.

Malcolm Rutter is Out

All the chips go in on a: K 5 10 flop

Malcolm Rutter had: Q J

Robert Jones [pictured] had: K 5

The turn brings another: K

and Malcolm is out.

Kevin Humphrey Gets a Needed Boost

Kevin Humphrey raises in late position, D Collinson 3 bets and Kevin Humphrey pushes for about 22,000

D Collinson tanks for about 2 minutes and folds showing an Ace face up.

Kevin Humphrey is up to around 31,000

Reid's off?

Stephen Reid makes it 3100 to go from the cut-off and Paul Hambleton makes the call from the SB. The flop comes 2 A J and Paul checks with Stephen following quickly behind.

The turn brings the A and although the action is the same, this time Stephen takes a while longer to check his option. The river brings the apparently meaningless 4 but this time Paul puts a small 3000 bet into the pot. Stephen doesn’t think about it and simply mucks his cards.

Our previous chip leader has taken a few hits and is down to 30,300.
