Ford crashes

Zachary Ford piles the pressure on Lee Birchall with a bet on the river that puts Birchall all in. The board is 3 6 A 8 2 and Birchall doesn’t like having to play for his tournament life so close to the money. There is around 105,000 in the pot already and Birchall has about 39,000 left.
If he still wanted to play his hand on the flop the 8 and 2 shouldn’t have changed much but he agonises over the decision for a long time before eventually sticking it in. He shows A J and Ford nods and mucks his hand.

Birchall is delighted and understandably so – it’s a big pot that will put him in a good position now.

Ash's to ashes

Ash Hussain moved all-in in early position for 28k. It was folded round to Bryan Donovan in the big blind who obviously thought he knew something everyone else didn’t and called with Q 7. That was never going to be ahead of Ash’s A Q. However, the board fell Q 7 5 J 9 and Donovan’s “creativity” was rewarded. Hussain hit the rail in a huff.

Mustafa Sepanji Survives.

Lee Birchall limps UTG and it’s raised to 16,000 by Zachary Ford. Mustafa Sepanji calls and leaves himself with only 9500 chips, Gregory Garrett and Birchall both make the call.

The flop is: 7 K J

Birchall bets out 15,000 – Ford folds, Sepanji sticks his 9500 in and Garrett folds after him.

Sepanji shows A 7 for bottom pair and Birchall reveals A Q

The turn and river of 4 K gives Sepanji a much needed pot.

Harry Zammit is out, Gerald David doubles up

David is on BB, Zammit bets 10K. David raises to 19K. Zammit calls. the flop is Q A 4. David bets 25K. After some consideration Zammit goes all in for 54700. David calls and reveals A J. Zammit shows A 10 The board is completed with 8 Q.

Stop Ngo

After Lynne Beaumont had raised to 12,000 Billy Ngo comtemplates his best move in the big blind. After a little thought he raises to 27,000 and it doesn’t take long for Beaumont to call the 15,000 more.
When the flop falls 6 7 4 Ngo wastes no time in getting the rest of his chips in and in turn Beaumont quickly calls. Someone on the rail predicts kings and queens and whilst one of the those predictions is correct, the other hand comes as something of a surprise.
Ngo shows Q Q whilst Beaumont has 8 9
There is no straight forthcoming for Beaumont but the J 5 give her the flush and she has Ngo covered. Ngo’s had a tough time of it recently and now he’s out of the tournament.

Findlay Doubles.

It’s folded to Ngo who raises to 13,000 in middle position.

Alistair Findlay moves all-in on the small blind for 43900 more and after a couple of minutes thinking, Ngo calls and shows A K

Findlay looks in very bad shape with his AQ but he flops a Queen. They both hit an Ace on the turn and there is no King on the river to give Findlay a pot of around 95400 and goes above average chips.

Level up

Blinds are now 2,000/4,000 with a 400 ante

Double-Up for Larry Bale

It’s folded to James O’Connell who sticks in a raise of 12,000 from mid position.

Bale moves all-in for 3600 more and O’Connell makes the call.

Bale tables KQ against O’Connell’s 88 and hits a King on the river to double up. He now has 38200 chips.

Garrett slams brakes on Ford

Zachary Ford raised to 7000 on the button and Gregory Garrett called in the big blind. Flop K T 9 and turn 3 were checked by both players. Garrett bet 10000 when the A fell on the river and Ford raised to 30000. Did the ace help him or was he taking advantage of a scare card to bluff a nice pot? It didn’t take long for Garrett to work out that his A 6 was worth the extra 20000. Ford mucked his hand as soon as Garrett’s chips crossed the line.

David McCrone is out

McCrone went all-in pre-flop with Q 5 for 21K. G Rodger goes all-in for a bit more than 21K. the board is A 9 J 8 3 and Rodgers doubles up.
