Larry skint
Sun, Sep 21st 2008, 20:36 by Reporter
Larry Bale moves the last of his chips in and sees Bryan Donovan call from the button. It’s not a huge amount more for Peter Ioannou to call in the big blind and he’s feeling adventurous – he calls blind.
Donovan and Ioannou check it down all the way on a 2
3
Q
4
9
board.
Bale has missed with his A 9, as has Donovan with A 10 so Ioannou checks his cards for the first time….....4 6 is good enough and we hear “Bown chicka wow wow” resound across the casino floor again. Larry Bale makes his exit.
Ryder cut
Sun, Sep 21st 2008, 20:27 by Reporter
Zachary Ford raised in early position and Raymond Ryder moved all-in on the button. It was folded back to Ford who eventually called. Ryder had A
Q
and, much to everyone’s surprise, Ford could show nothing better than A
6
. However, it proved a shrewd investment as the board ran out T
3
6
K
8
sending the unfortunate Ryder to the rail.
Hanninen Finnished
Sun, Sep 21st 2008, 20:16 by Reporter
Niko Hanninen moves all in for 35,500 and Skull Man Gerald David thinks a little before calling on the button.
Both blinds fold and Hanninen shows that he was just trying to take down the money on the table with K
9
Skull Man is well ahead with Q
K
but he doesn’ t like the flop of 3
9
6
The turn and river are better for him though – J
and 3
give him the flush and Hanninen is out.

for a turned set. McWilliam can only muster one pair with 7

and hits the rail in 20th place.

Birchall sucks out and rubs down
Sun, Sep 21st 2008, 19:28 by Reporter
A huge pot has just played out on table 1. With 20k in the middle and Q
T
9
on the board, Luke Abolins bet 7k. Mustafa Sepanji called and Gregory Garrett raised to 37k. Lee Birchall, who had everyone else covered, thought for a while and then asked Garrett how much he had behind. The answer was 90k. Birchall then pushed all-in. Abolins and Sepanji withdrew and Garrett carefully considered his options before calling with T
9
for bottom two pair. This was comfortably ahead of Birchall’s A
3
. The turn A
gave Birchall extra outs but he didn’t need them since the river 4
made the flush he was seeking. Birchall and his hangers-on started shouting and screaming before Birchall trained his sights on the hapless Garrett, berating him for calling and informing him he was a fool and had just cost himself at least £1,000 in prize money. It seemed not to matter to Birchall’s argument that he was a 2/1 underdog in the hand, but there are many players to whom odds matter little. Garrett left the table in dignified silence.
