Gala Casinos Poker Tour - Liverpool Day 2 - Final

News & Reports

"Skullman" claims his first scalp

Anthony Kevan raised to 4000 on the button and “Skullman” Gerald David moved all-in. Kevan was covered and called for his remaining 20000 with Q 8. He needed help as the “Skullman” had overcards: A K. A flop of T 7 6 was unhelpful to Kevan and the A on the turn was even more so. The irrelevant river was the 6 and Kevan hit the rail.

Brownson out

Stuart Brownson has just been eliminated at the hands of Peter Ioannou. Brownson might have thought that the jack high board was not too threatening for his second pair holding 8 5 but Ioannou had made the nut straight on the turn and Brownson was drawing dead on the river.
Ioannou scoops in the chips and lets out the familiar “Bowm chicka wow wow” refrain that we have heard regularly over the past couple of days.

Phen - Out

Chip leader Zachary Ford and H Phen (on the button) both see a flop of 4 3 10, after a couple of big pre-flop bets.

Fords bets out 30,000 then Phen moves all-in for the rest of his chips.

After some thinking, Ford makes the call and Phen turns over pocket 6’s

A shocked Ford tables K 10 and the dealer deals the turn and river.

7 9

Phen is eliminated from the tournament and the chip leader gains another 63700.

Eglintine on rollercoaster

Lynne Beaumont moved all-in for 21300 from the cut-off. It was folded to big blind Carl Eglintine who called with J J, which was racing against Beaumont’s A K. The first two cards out were K K followed by T 8 3. Beaumont doubled up and left Eglintine crippled on 4600.

It was folded to him in the small blind on the next hand and he made the obligatory all-in move with his microstack. Big blind Stuart Brownson called without looking. A 6 for Eglintine, K 5 for Brownson. The board ran out 9 7 4 2 3 and Eglintine more than doubled up (thanks to the antes) with the nut flush.

On the next hand he moved all-in for 10200 and this time had enough chips to pick up the blinds uncontested.
