News & Reports

Ward hit for six

The turn of 6 sets off the action again on table 5 after the flop had fallen Q 6 9
Paul Ward leads out but behind him Anthony Holden moves all in, having Ward covered. Ward calls and finds out that his 6 is not good enough though as Holden’s pocket nines are well ahead.
Ward is our latest casualty.

Hold it right there

For a moment Loraine Clark’s JJ seems to have suffered a bad beat on the river when K Fairly’s 10s make a set on the river. Just as Fairly is pulling the chips in though a cry of “straight!” goes up and everyone notices that Clark has not been unlucky after all.
Fairly has to release the chips and they head towards Clark’s end of the table instead.

Chips on the move at table 5

At table 5 the flop of 9 4 A is checked to Anthony Holden who bets 1400 into a pot of 2150. Bradley Varnham check raises to 3000 but doesn’t like what he sees when Holden moves all in for around 16000.
Varnham checks his cards and we see that he has A K He’s worried that Holden has a set of fours, but after checking his cards again and finding that top pair top kicker is still his hand he decides that he can’t fold and sticks his chips in. He’s right to call as Holden only has A 10 and 2 2 don’t change anything. Varnham doubles up.

Beevers battling

Joe seems to be on a table comprising mostly of local players. He’s slightly down on his starting stack on 8300.

Obadun crippled

With the board reading A 8 5 4 Babawande Obadun bet 2500 into a pot of around 3000 and was called by John Littler. The river was 5 and Littler checked to Obadun who moved all-in for 7500. Littler, who was covered, grimaced and made the call and flipped over A K. Obadun declined to show his hand and made to leave the table before it was pointed out to him that he was still in possession of a tiny stack.

Hudson - Out

D Husdon has just been knocked out by Gigi Yu.

Yu’s pocket 9’s were too much for Hudsons J7.

Final board: Q 10 4 3 6

Level up

Blinds are now 50/100

Spyrou falls in the first level

Andy Spyrou was miles ahead when he flopped a set of 2s but 5s on both the turn and river gave his opponent a bigger full house holding 5 2. Unsurprisingly all the money went in on the turn and Spyrou was knocked out of the tournament on a two-outer.

Our first down is...

Daniel Hall. He was eliminated on the first hand of the day. Unfortunately we don’t know the details of this hand.

An alternate has taken his seat.
