Gala Casinos Poker Tour - Liverpool Day 1B

News & Reports

Seddon done

A Seddon got it all-in pre-flop with pocket jacks against Raymond Ryder’s ace-king. A flop of J-T-4 put Seddon in a commanding position but a Q on the turn left him needing to pair the board to stay alive. However, it wasn’t to be as a 2 on the river sent Seddon to the rail.

Varnham out

Brad Varnham was eliminated with pocket kings on a 2-3-3-7-9 board by Mark James, who held pocket aces. An animated Varnham exited bemoaning his misfortune.

Correct fold punished

There’s a commotion over at table 5 but it turns out it’s over a hand that has already been killed. Greg Garrett accidentally exposes 3 2 as he folds his hand then the table erupts with laughter as the flop falls 332 whilst Garrett looks on ruefully.

Stephen Smith - Out for the count.

Professional boxer Stephen Smith was knocked in the 3rd level when he ran his Queens into the Kings of Richard Gilby and did not improve.

He’s eliminated from the tournament just as we reach the new blind levels of 200/400

Jenkins burnt by hot Cole

Richard Cole raised to 700 in early position and C jenkins re-raised to 2000 in middle position. It was folded back to Cole who pondered before making the call. It was a raiser’s flop: A K Q. Cole quickly set Jenkins all-in for around 5000 and Jenkins called. Cole showed his A J with an air of resignation, but was surprised to find himself ahead of Jenkins’ A T. Jenkins was drawing to three jacks but instead turn and river brough 6 3, sending Jenkins to the rail. Some might consider ace-ten a very mediocre hand with which to lose a 35-big-blind stack.

The dreaded AA v KK confrontation

Karl Stokes picks up kings but is unfortunate to run them into Kath Thompson’s aces and he is now out of the tournament.

Anthony Holden is also out after his top pair with K9 was no match for Mark James’ full house holding KQ

Donakey takes down a big pot

On a board of A K 5 K J, Donakey bets out big into a large pot and is called by his opponent.

Donakey shows his Aces and takes down a pot of around 17,000.
