News & Reports

Trotte cleans up

It’s the perfect scenario for Trotte – he flops quad fives and sees not one but two other players get all their chips in hopelessly far behind. Trotte has them both covered and Kev Smith and Steve Laughlin are both sent packing. Trotte is now up to 42,500.

McWilliam doubles through Littler

After pre-flop action generated a 5k pot, John McWilliam bet 2k on a flop of J 7 3. John Littler raised to 6k and McWilliam called. The turn was 4 and McWilliam bet 4.5k and Littler moved all-in. McWilliam had 9k behind and made the call. A monster pot and two monster hands: J J making top set for Littler against A K making the nut flush for McWilliam. Littler needed the board to pair but 8 on the river handed the pot to McWilliam and left Littler in trouble.

Lawton gone

After clashing with Mel Lofthouse, Sarah Lawton needed a miracle to make any sort of recovery and it hasn’t come. She now joins the rail.

It's AA v KK again

They didn’t get it all in pre flop but on a flop of 9 10 8 Sarah Lawton moves the rest of her chips into the middle and Mel Lefthouse calls straight away. It’s kings for Lawton and aces for Lofthouse and there is no improvement for either hand. Both had similar stacks meaning Mel is up to around 27,000 whilst Sarah has almost nothing left.

Jennison survives

With around 3000 in the pot, Steven Tucker moved all-in on a flop of J J 2. Stephen Jennison, whom Tucket had covered, called with A A. He had some outs to dodge because Tucker was holding 7 6. Turn and river ran out K T and Jennison survived. Tucker was crippled down to 7000.

10K for Richard Cole

Grant McGinn vs. Richard Cole. Both players check to the river. The board reads 7 4 5 3 A. McGinn bets 3K. McGinn calls and reveals A J but it’s not a match for Cole’s A K. Simple really…

Wilmer-brown - Out.

Daniel Wilmer-Brown found himself in big trouble when his Jacks was up against the Queens of Mark James.

The flop of 9 K 10 brings gives him two outs to hit the Queen for the straight (but he also loses his trips draw)

A King on the turn and a 9 on the river ensures that Brown goes out and Mark James wins a nice pot.

Chip leaders.

The current chip leaders of day 1b are as follows:

1 Mark James 68,100

2 Donovan Burton 62,625

3 S McLean 39,000

Level up

The players have returned from their 15 minute break. The blinds remain 200/400 but a running ante of 25 has been introduced.

Hardy hangs on

Short-stacked Paul Hardy got it all-in pre-flop with A 9 against Rupinder Bedi’s A Q. Hardy implored the dealer to give him a nine and the dealer duly obliged as the board ran out J 9 6 2 4.
