Gala Casinos Poker Tour - Liverpool Day 1B

News & Reports

Level Up!

The blinds are now 600/1200 with a running ante of 100

33 players remain.

McLean to rest

A McLean will not be making it through to day 2 after he just busted out on table 3.

Chu chewed

With unknown pre-flop action, Garwo Chu made a big bet on a flop of J 4 2 and Niko Hninen moved all-in for a further 8500. The size of Chu’s first bet meant that the pot was now so large that he could not sensibly fold and he counted out the call. He was left with just 1500 behind. Chu’s Q J were drawing very thin against Hninen’s 2 2. Turn and river of T J did not help Chu and he will struggle to survive more than a few hands.

Table of death

Table 2 has done it again. D Gallagher moved all in pre flop and got a call from Russell Adcock in the big blind. Gallagher showed A 10 but was dominated by Adcock’s A K
J J 2 7 9 were no help for Gallacher and we have another elimination courtesy of the table of death.

Zammit busted

H Zammit has also just busted amongst the carnage of level 7 and we are fast approaching the number of players we were left with at the end of yesterday.

Bale makes hay

Larry Bale raised under the gun and it was folded around to big blind D Gallagher, who moved all-in. Bale called with K K and was in good shape against Gallagher’s J J. The board provided no surprises: 8 5 2 6 9. Gallagher’s stack was decimated to 12k and Bale moved up to 42k.

Stephen Jennison - Out

Jennison is eliminated from the tournament while holding J9 against his opponent who held AJ.

Both players see the Jack hit the turn and get their chips in.

Jennison fails to improve on the river and is eliminated.

35 remain for today.

Final board: 8 3 2 J 6

John Crawford is out

John’s hand wasn’t strong enough to stand against Caroline Manson’s full house and he’s going home.

It's all happening

On table 1 S Mahargh’s raise is re-popped by David Doyle who moves all in pre flop. Mahargh is relieved to find that he’s made the right call when his AQ emerges well ahead of Doyle’s A 2
The flop brings hope for Doyle with two more hearts but there is no further hope and Mahargh gets all his chips.

Immediately afterwards Larry Bale and Lee Connett also get it all in pre flop with Bale holding Q Q to Connett’s big slick. The appearance of an ace seems to have won it for Connett until a fourth club falls on the river to give Bale a flush and knock out the unfortunate Connett.

M Lewis doubles up

M Lewis decided he had to take a stand with his small stack and has managed to double up with K2 against Garwo Chu’s AQ after catching a 2 on the flop. He lives to fight another day
