Howe'ay the lad

Luong-Huu Bui raised to 80k in middle position. A crippled Richard Howe had 10k invested in the small blind and the call was obligatory as he only had a further 5k behind. He had 7 7 against Bui’s A 9. The flop of J 4 8 was good for Howe but running 9 9 on turn and river sent him out of the tournament in 6th place. He takes home £5,000.

Gala have added prizes for the top five finishers: 4th-5th get a $320 online tournament ticket; 2nd-3rd get a £500 buy-in to the GCBPT Bristol event in June; and 1st gets a £1,500 entry to the GCBPT Grand Final in Bristol.

And Thou Art Dead

Daniel Byrom moves in with K T for just 52,000. Luong Huu Bui is priced in on the big blind with J 7 and makes the call for 32,000 more. The flop is harmless for Byrom: Q 4 2 but the turn is the 7 to give Luong his pair. The river the Q isn’t the king Byrom requires and he’ll be doing no more a-roving in this tournament.

£4,200 is the payout.

Maudlin might have his name on this one

Dave Maudlin moved all-in on the button for 99k. After a long deliberation Richard Howe called in the small blind with 9 9. He was in good shape against Maudlin’s K 8. First two cards out of the deck: 8 8! The rest of the board ran out 5 5 T and Maudlin doubled up. Howe is in a bit of trouble now.

Keys flips over 4 4 and Byrom shows 10 10 for a brilliant call.

Byrom Lords it over Keys

In a battle of the blinds James Keys, the most active player at the table so far, raised from the small and was called by Daniel Byrom from the big. The flop was 4 T 8 and Keys led out for 65k. Byrom, sensing perhaps that Keys had been a little too active to credit, moved all-in for a further 152k and Keys mucked fairly quickly. Byrom tabled A K with a whoop. Keys shrugged and muttered “Suicide” under his breath.
