Chip leader bullying

Maria Demetriou makes a standard raise to about 10,000 in early position and Spencer Lawrence in the cut off says “well it worked last time” before throwing in 10 pink chips (50,000 total) which just covers Maria’s stack. She gives up the pot after a couple of seconds consideration.

Out of Key?

C. Young raised to 13k from early position and was called by Ozzy Izuogu in middle position and James Keys in the small blind. The flop came 4 7 3. Keys checked and Young continued for 20k. Izuogu fold and Keys went into the tank. He asked for a count of Young’s remaining chips (13k) and asked Young if he wanted the call. An impassive Young told him to put his chips in if he wanted to find out. After a much deliberating and riffling of chips, Keys folded J J face up. An astonished Young tabled A K and raked the pot. Some might argue that if you’re going to fold jacks against a short-stack on a seven-high flop, you may as well not play them in the first place.

Millar ground down

Michael Millar moved all-in for around 25k on the button and Gary Moore deliberated before making what looked like a reluctant call in the big blind. He was in good shape, however, as Millar had just Q 4 against his 9 9. The board ran out 6 J T 3 K and Millar hit the rail.

Anthony Chapman moves in

For about 38,000. Richard Howe on his left considers it for a couple of minutes but decides against risking over 1/3rd of his stack.

Robert Plaistow

Table break

They’ve been dropping like flies. Seven players have exited in the first 40 minutes so we are already down to four tables.

James Woodruff out

It’s something off a bloodbath here at the start.

Steven Laughlin out

Laughlin has been knocked out of the tournament holding Jacks.

His all-in pre flop push was called by Dominic Kay’s AQ who hit a Queen on the turn and finishes Laughlin’s tournament.

Colclough coughs up last chips

Short-stacked Dave Colclough moved all-in for 7500 in middle position and Raj Dhiri moved all-in for a further 18k from the cut-off. Carl Eglintine deliberated long and hard before passing in the big blind. A 4 for Colclough, A Q for Dhiri. The board ran out K 5 J K 8 and Colclough takes an early bath.
