News & Reports

Tom Rutter knocks out Rajinder Shina

Rajinder gets it all in pre-flop with Kings and Tom Rutter Calls with AQ.

Rajinder hits a set on the turn but Tom makes a straight on the river and knocks out and we’re another man down.

Squeezing a monster

Maria Demetriou raised to 1600 in late position and J. Burke called in the cut-off. Ordinarily this would be a nice opportunity for either the button or one of the blinds to make a squeeze play and pick up useful chips with a modest holding, so it’s no surprise when D. Nicolaou announces raise from the button. However, the size of the raise is surprising: another 9000 to play . The blinds get out of the way and fellow Greek Demetriou comments on the size of the raise before mucking. Burke follows suit. Nicolaou turns over A A and says “For you, Maria.” One suspects he might have lost some valuable business there.

Blinds up

Now 300/600 with a 50 ante.

Sidicki survives

Blinds are 200/400

Sidicki Mohange moves all in for around 3300 in early position and gets no action.

70 players remain.

Ward of the court cards

With the blinds at 200/400, John Ward moved all-in for 7200 under the gun (it is a skill game after all). Mark Angioy deliberated before deciding there were better spots than this for his nines. However, Richard Plaistow made a quick call. Immediately to his left, Mark James went into the tank. There aren’t many hands for which this could have been a serious decision and he eventually folded, as did everyone else. Plaistow exposed A Q but was disgusted to see Ward flip over a K K. A flop of 4 K 2 left Plaistow drawing exceedingly thin and 9 wrapped it up by the turn. The redundant river was 4 and Ward boated it up.

Kossouf - Knocked out.

A short stacked Kossouf gets it all in with A10 against two opponents, one of which was holding pocket fives. A flop of Q 5 6 gave his opponent a set and with the turn and river card a 10 & 9 sealed his fate.

70 players remain in Day 1A.

Player Count

71 players left so far in Day 1A.

Level Up

Blinds are still 200/400 but a 25 running ante has been introduced.

Chris Welsh gone

Gardener and Mathews clash again

This time Rory Mathews makes the call of Gardener’s 5400 preflop all-in with just AJ to Gardener’s AK. “Your skill against my luck” says Gardener, referring to previous pots he’s played and got away with despite having the worst of it. The board brings down first a pair of twos on the flop and then a pair of 8s made on the river for a split pot.
