Clarkson in top gear

Graham Clarkson raised to 3000 under the gun and was called by Sue Scarce and Luong-Huu Bui in the blinds. The flop: 5 9 9. It was checked to Clarkson who bet 7000. Sue Scarce moved all-in (she had Clarkson covered) and Bui got out of the way. Clarkson insta-called for his remaining 18000 and showed K K. An exasperated Scarce flipped over 7 7. Turn 2 and river J were no help to her and Clarkson doubled up to a healthy stack.

An early night?

9 levels of play were anticipated for today, with just over 15 minutes left of level 8 and 30 players left it’s possible we’ll be finishing for the night shortly though. Nothing official either way yet however.

Hong, drawn and quartered

Hong Ji Liu raised to 3200 on the button and big blind David Burton asked how much he had left – 9000. Burton decided to call. A flop of 9 6 2 was checked by both players. Burton bet 9000 when 7 fell on the turn and was insta-called by Liu with Q 7, who was in a dominating position against Burton’s T 7. However, that all changed when Burton spiked 8 on the river to make a straight to his ten. Cue the chip-leader to crow “That’s what you get when you try to steal my big blind.”

Houghton doubles up against Hardy

Houghton moves in for his final 4500 chips in late position and is called by Hardy who tables 3 4

Houghton shows Q 8

With a flop of 8 3 2, Houghton keeps the lead and manages to double up when a 2 falls on the turn and a K falls on the river.

Paul Hardy knocks out Ash Abdullah

Ash Abdullah’s Kings get busted by Paul Hardy’s A10

They both get their money in pre-flop.

6 Q 7 on the flop.

Paul hits his Ace on the turn and the river brings no King.

Ash Abdullah is out.

The ladies are getting Scarcer

Lynne Beaumont got her chips in with well the best of it against Robert Plaistow, holding QQ against Plaistow’s AQ who spiked the ace on the river.

Maria Demetriou and Sue Scarce are the two remaining ladies in the field.

Nic of the night

Only Nicolaou called. The turn was A and both checked. The river was A. Dangerous board. Nicolaou led out for 6000 and Gilbert. Nicolaou couldn’t resist showing K J.
