Coonan caught

Jamie Coonan raised to 12k on the button with around 20k behind. Big blind Nick Wright, who had Coonan well-covered, moved all-in and Coonan went into the tank. Despite getting 9/4 odds on his remaining chips he eventually folded, suggesting his hand may not have been as good as he tried to represent.

Monster pot for Matthews

Crazy action as Neil Stewart raises to 11000, John Welsh re-raises to 31000, Rory Matthews moves all in from the button and Rizwan Hussein joins in by shoving his last 10000 in as well.
The action is back to Neil Stewart who gets the rest of his chips in and there is a massive pot already as Welsh now has to decide. He already has a third of his chips invested in this pot but everyone is representing big big hands. After much shaking of the head he passes and we see the three remaining hands.
Stewart A K
Matthews A A
Hussein 6 8

The board fills up J 3 8 Q J Hussein’s call on the assumption that there would plenty of dead money has worked and he takes the main pot. It’s the side pot that contains all the chips though and Matthews’ aces win that.
John Welsh says he passed AK with the A

Lynch stays alive

P. Scott raised to 12k in the cut-off and John Lynch moved all-in for an additional 44k in the small blind. Scott deliberate before calling with T T. He was in bad shape against Lynch’s J J. There was no help for Scott from the 6 A 9 9 4 board and Lynch doubled up to 115k.

Hussein doesn't believe DeMarco

It’s folded to the blinds and when Rizwan Hussein calls Ramon DeMarco moves in for 17600. Hussein clearly doesn’t think it necessarily means a big hand and calls with K 9 . Unfortunately for him it is a big hand and DeMarco’s Q Q holds up to double him through.

Blinds up

Now 2000/4000 with a 400 ante.

Gillion disgusted by Dick

John Dick raised pre-flop in middle position and Robert Gillion pushed all-in. Dick wasn’t priced in but called anyway with A-2 against Gillion’s Q-Q. Dick won the hand with a 5-high straight and Gillion spent the next few minutes making his disgust publicly known.

A few hands later he pushed his short stack all-in with A 8 and was called by Robin Yiltalo’s A K in the big blind. The board ran out 7 2 4 4 4 and Gillion departed under a cloud.

Coonan all in

Jamie Coonan moves all in for 13800 on the flop of 9 6 4
The pot stands at about 17000 from the pre-flop betting and John Dick makes a bit of an optimistic call with 10 Q
He soon wishes he hadn’t when Coonan flips over K K which is good enough to go on to win and double him up.

Greenwood still there

John Dick raised in middle position and short-stacked Mark Greenwood moved all-in on the button. Dick was pot committed and called with K Q, which was racing against Greenwood’s J J. The board ran out A 4 8 8 9 and Greenwood survived.

Denton departs

Upon arrival in the cardroom we find that Charles Denton’s stack has already taken a hit from the previous hand and he is involved in a massive pot once again.
With the board showing 5 8 8 7 Q Denton bets 12,000 which is a bit less than half the pot. P Scott pushes and Denton makes the call showing A Q
It’s a long way behind Scott’s 7 7 for the full house and Denton is out.
