Contrasting emotions

Wu scoops in the chips, again.

And Richard Lapwood is in disbelief at what his previously monster stack has become.

Raising war

Colin Wu and Richard Lapwood trade raises pre-flop until they are both all in.
Lapwood’s A K is well ahead of Wu’s K J but there is something for both of them on the flop of 9 J 8
The 5 K that follow sees nearly all of Lapwood’s chips move over to Wu. It’s surely curtains for Lapwood now.

Yiltalo Laps it up

Richard Lapwood completes his small blind and Robin Yiltalo declines his option in the big blind. The flop is A K 4. Lapwood leads out for 28k and Yiltalo calls. Both check the 2 on the turn and Lapwood bets 45k when 7 falls on the river. Yiltalo counts out the call, holds the chips over the call line, and asks Lapwood if he has the ace. Lapwood shrugs and that seems to be enough for Yiltalo as he places the chips on the felt. Lapwood sheepishly shows 6 8 and Yiltalo scoops a healthy pot with K 6. It looks like the young Swede may have his veteran opponent’s number.

But it hasn't prompted any action

There has been a lull in proceedings with no hands going to the river. It’s a cagey raise and fold affair at the moment.

The price of poker...

Coonan gone

After just unluckily having to split a pot with 5 5 versus 5 8 Coonan is all in again.
He raised to 30,000 on the button, Yiltalo re-raised to 60,000 and when Wu folded Coonan had to move all in for another 4,000.
Coonan showed Q 10 to Yiltalo’s Q A
Coonan needs help but it’s Yiltalo who hits as 4 6 5 A Q means we have our 6th place finisher.

Rough justice for Lynch

John Lynch raised 28k in the cut-off and Rory Mathews re-raised to 100k total. Lynch wasted no time in moving all-in and a dejected Mathews asked for the count. With only 58k to call, it was obligatory for Mathews and he counted out the chips saying “I don’t have much but that’s the way I play.” J J for Lynch, A 7 for Mathews. A board of 6 A 8 K T spelled an ugly exit for Lynch for 7th place and £2800.
